Hello, I am still running build 1120 and i want to update the game too build 1121 but i can't find the new build at the properties tab, is there another way to update it?
Normally, if you use the default Steam Settings and are in the online Mode, it should update automatically, no matter if you use the Beta or the non Beta Version. Have you checked the Version Number of your Install?
His install has been updated, he just didn't know the procedure to get to the latest version. Which is somewhat non-intuitive. Choosing the Opt out of Betas automatically then assigns you to the latest version. My simple brain would think v1121(or whatever the most current version is) should be among the choices and visible as a choice.
Yeah thats the problem, latest version i can choose is 1120. Almost home so i will have a look again.
It updated it but when i whent to make my own server it was still build 1120 so updated that the official way only now when i try to open dedicated server i get the message: Core component Scriptd v1.0d is missing, invalid or damaged, please reinstall rFactor 2. I tryed to find the file but couldn't find it anywhere any help?
If you navigate to this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Core There is a file called 'version'. It will enlighten you.
Both(normal rfactor and the dedicated rfactor files) versions are 1121 so what now? I am a noob with stuff like this.
Nothing more to do, you are fine then. The Steam properties tab isn't normally supposed to be used at all actually, Steam has always automatically updated the games to the latest build. It only became a thing with rF2 when certain users wanted to go back in time to stay on previous builds, but then they often forgot that setting on and were out of the update loop.
You may have got the folder wrong when updating the server. Might be easier at this point to install the server from scratch, but set up a .bat file for updating at the same time so you know you get the same syntax (like any forced install folder).
Thanks that worked, but as usual something else goes wrong, i install some mods again for my dedicated server via mod manager but now when i try the dedicated exe i get, no mod files found or installed mods found. Wich is strange as in mod manager it says the mods are installed?
You need to run the dedi with the correct target/working folder for it to work. You also need to have the correct folders when you run the MAS tool and install them. Normally when running the dedi you change the target folder (in the shortcut) to the main game folder, or you put +path=".." at the end of the command.
@StubbornGymnast Working Dir should be the server folder, not its Installed folder. Your Install folder also looks wrong. Install: <rf2folder>\Installed Working: <rf2folder> Packages: <rf2folder>\Packages (the packages can be wherever you're storing packages, so like you've done can be a totally different folder)
Done that everything installed, still the same problem. Will do it all from scratch now too see if it helps.
@StubbornGymnast don't forget to adjust the working folder when running the dedi. If your MAS tool folders are correct and you've installed content, that's the only thing that can go wrong.
You mean working direction: Racing\rFactor 2 dedicated\ packages? i tryed that. Sorry for being so stupid but i dont have much knowledge of computers. I really appreciate your help mate. The Mas tool folders i have that like the tutuorial says, rfactor2/packages.
