Before the era of traction control and hybrids driver skills were a major competition factor. For those who prefer an eclectic collection of mods what are your top 5 classic favorites? Mine would be, not in any particular order: Group C by MAK Mods F1 1986 by Chief & Postipate Porsche 917K by Yoss F1 1991 by ASR ChampCar 2005-2006 by iDT A hearty thanks to the folks who put forth a lot of effort to create these mods. Maybe its time for another round of donations.
This is my 5 top mods. Thanks to all involved with these mods. ASR F1 1991 MAK-Corp Group-C RSS DPi cars Porsche 917 URD JT5 2016 Nissan There are several more I could add.
The thread has no specific mention that car mods has to be listed, but it is clearly what goes. I like these mod cars a lot: AE86 Club Nissan Skyline 2000 GTR (and there are more coming from the team, yet to try) SpecMiata (just must not set caster too low, because then the car gets ruined) Caterham7 14K Classic (not quite sure if model is legit, but looks nice, and I like the physics) All these are top mods too, just in my opinion tires has slightly highish sliding friction levels, or something related: ToyotaCelicaGTO 1986 Aussie Legends ER Flat6 Series rF2 Lola T280 Mercedes C11 from MakCorp - outstanding one, suspiciously highish understeer, by default don't like steering feel, but it is configurable, other than that really great. F1 Legends Racing 2 Season 1967 - should spend more time with it, I think it is pretty good. GTPC conversion - keeping my eyes on this one. And of course cars that I work on
This is my number 1. https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/nissan-skyline-2000gtr-kpgc10.65339/ I don't like the 900 degree steering so I do have to hack it but other than that it's awesome.
The C11 is one of my favorites too. Its not hard to tune the understeer out. I've played with a custom version of the MAK mods as well with some upgrades like 6 speed gearboxes and a custom BOP between the 3 cars that enables a more uniform AI performance across short and long tracks. Kind of like a modern day Group C rebirth without the traction control stuff.
Its something I modified myself but its not for distribution. I've customized a few other mods to my own tastes with drivability but have enough respect to the original modders to not release them to anyone else.
