Great news, thanks again for testing. No worries Jim, rf2 Rank's development pace isn't exactly approaching lightspeed, either :)

    :D My signature should read:
"I have two speeds: slow and stop. Do you want me to shift?"

    @hoover
I ran some laps at the Red Bull Ring GP with the BMW M2 CS. My times appear under RED_BULL_RING_GP in the World Records list, but they appear under Red Bull / A1 Ring (rather than Red Bull Ring GP) when I search for lap times using the Track list.

There are 4 versions of that track in the database.

The modders often use strange naming conventions when naming the tracks & the files with make up the tracks, sometimes they don't tie up too well, as you've found.

    General lockdown musings.....

How much server space do you have, Uwe?

Mr Smiles could adapt his script (again) & have it pull in the Transparent Trainer file for the best lap(s) (if available) & upload along with the times, with a link to d/l when viewing. Maybe only for World Records should server space be an issue.

Chasing a ghost car might be more desirable that blindly chasing the clock.

    Just a thought.

Server space is rather tight I'm afraid. I wasn't even aware the transparent trainer file is still a thing :)

BTW I'm hunting down a spurious bug that crashed the "view laptimes" page... if anyone has seen this error can you please re-test?

Thanks & all the best, Uwe

Is it possible to have the selection boxes side-by-side?

There's a lot of blank white space at 16:9.

Not noticed any bugs/crashing. Is it a particular car/track combo or random?

I think this might have affected all accounts that were created after the move to python3, but I'm not sure. I'll keep an eye out for those emails (I'm getting a notification when this error occurs).

    Thanks for testing!

Yep, I've seen that too, will look into it.

Is there any way to get this....?

I guess there are too many car/track combos though.

    Must find my GPL cd....

    Surely you're joking, right? :)

I've made some attempts to establish some form of handicap for the original beta content and an f1-style one using the real life laptimes from GPs as benchmarks, but here rf2's flexibility is also its curse. rf2 is too much of a moving target IMHO to serve as a benchmark of sorts that folks can compare themselves to: Weather, realroad, physics & track updates, BoP changes to existing cars and simply too much variety to choose from.

GPLRank (I wrote v1 back in the 90s) had only a few cars and chassis to worry about, and even less so when it came to updates, and came with a nice set of replays that could be used for the benchmark times. I don't see any of this happening for rf2.

    All the best,

    Uwe

    Not entirely....

Below is the top of my "My Laps" page.

It's pretty meaningless without clicking on each car to see where I am on the list for that combo.

Another column or two with the WR & percentage of WR would be a good indicator as to which I need to improve the most.

Maybe using static data rather than querying the database constantly?

    :D

The "my laps" page now displays the difference towards the overall world record (as suggested by Dave above).

It's probably still buggy so let me know if the function works for you.

    All the best,

    Uwe

Hi folks, we'll be updating some server components over the coming weekend so please expect some downtime on rF2 Rank.

Thanks for your patience & all the best,

    Uwe

I think I've found a bug, unless this is intentional.

Recently I've noticed that whenever times are uploaded, even it the career.blt file contains previously submitted times, it updates to timestamp as though it's a fresh submission. Not the end of the world, just an observation.

Now, yesterday and today I've noticed, if I resubmit a slower than previous time. (IE, fresh installed/cleared cch files/new player folder/etc) it overwrites the previous better time.

For example, I've been revisiting my previous personal bests to see 8f I can improve on them. Two of my recent ones were the ISI F2 at Malaysia South, and the 2010 Clio Cup at Mills Outer A.

Both of these I've not been able to improve on (but that's another issue!) but they are pulled into the career.blt file they are seen as lap records, then are added to the database, overwriting my actual best.

Thanks for the heads-up, I'll take a look. This doesn' happen my end AFAIK but it should be easy enough to reproduce.

    Cheers, Uwe
