@RoWo If you can narrow that down to one, and if it's the DAMPlugin please send me your damplugin.ini file?
@Lazza @Marcel Offermans It looks like, it's only the DAMPlugin 0.78. I tried older version 0.76 and it doesn't crash exiting the game.
Same here. Has done now for awhile. Tried a fresh install yesterday Seamed to be fine till I put my profile ini,s back in Player JSON and the others if that helps. I don't have any 3P plug-ins installed ATM and it's still really slow to close or crashes, (Not Responding) goes white smokey and hangs. I have to use Task Manager to close it down some times if it hangs for to long.
Well it doesn't seem to be replays causing the crash on exit for me. On my desktop pc, which I don't think I have started rF2 since the above post about a month ago, I started rF2 tonight and it crashed on exit. I then disabled (unticked) the "Auto Close Launcher" option in the Launcher / Settings screen. Still crashed on exit. On this desktop pc I have been running rF2 at 1920x1080 Windowed mode on a 2560x1440 monitor problem free until these crashes started, at what date I can't remember but not too long ago. So I then set rF2 to run at 2560x1440 Fullscreen mode. No crash on exit. I then turned the Auto Close Launcher option back on and no crash. Finally I went back to 1920x12080 Windowed mode and (drum roll!) no crash! She be a fickle beast ye ol' rF2. What works for someone may not be anyone else's fix.
Hi All! I'm a new italian rFactor 2 user, i bought it about six months ago. Like you I had this issue, i was not able to save any plugin change because my copy always crashed on exit. I was desperate because any solution did not work on my device. Then I browsed Windows' Event Viewer and I noticed that the same crash affected another Windows 10 standard programs that froze after the installation of a third party font rendering tool named MacType. MacType overrides the Windows Font Rendering with a Mac-Like smoothing, but makes some programs unstable. I set this tool off, and I'm very happy because rFactor 2 does not crash anymore. I hope MacType developers make its code more compatible with Win 10, since the default font rendering is very crappy. I hope my experience may help other gamers of this fantastic sim.
@RoWo @Lazza FYI Today i had the same error Rfactor 2 froze after exiting because rowo reported it was related to DAM plugin.. i started to look and found DAMPlugin_Output.txt file which logs the errors for the DAM plugin.. 03/02/19 19:07:13 Log building error. Consider removing temp file if this keeps happening: 03/02/19 19:07:13 .\\LOG\2019-03-02 - 17-40-54 - SRC_Dubai_LMS - P1.ldtemp so i looked at the dam log folder ..and found 3 LDTEMP files... because the error message suggests removing LDTEMP files..might resolve the the error. i removed these 3 files...after that i was to able EXIT rfactor2 without freezing.
@pace_car It appears sometimes the plugin gets something wrong and it starts to create an enormous file (there's probably no end to the process) which will look like a freeze. Unfortunately it will repeat because it will find the temp file next time and try to do it again, with the same result. (older versions of the plugin didn't try to recover the temp files, so they won't do it) So it's a known issue, I need to get back and try to find what's going wrong. In the meantime if you get a freeze check for temp files and if you aren't trying to actually recover one (power loss or rF2 crash while logging/converting, and you really want the session data) just remove them all. One thing I would say is it's very important to be clear what's happening when reporting issues. RoWo posted a 'me too' in this thread about crashing, but this is a freeze, not a crash. It seems a small distinction but it makes a big difference regarding potential causes (game, plugin) and the potential fix.
Late to the party, sorry I have the latest damp plugin 0.921 and the game hangs when closing as well I also get this error in windows event viewer: The program rFactor2 Dedicated.exe version 1.1.1.7 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed.
