Hi all, I am sure there is an easy answer to this, but I cannot find it. Since I started using the beta ui qualifying isn’t linked to race start, for eg, if I qualify 10th I want to start 10th.
Dont cut the Q session short. If you do, the sim will assign positions somewhat randomly. Use the time acceleration command to speed up the session and make sur you keep it running long enough for all the cars to finish returning to the garage.
Look in the race session settings, you will see the setting "starting position", make sure is set to "qualifying".
Thanks for replies, however in the "starting position" setting I don't have "qualifying" as an option...
The starting position option (Random or grid number) is only used when there was no qualifying session. From the player.json: "Starting Pos":0, "Starting Pos#":"Only used if no qualifying session in single-player",
You are right indeed, it has to be set to "Random". I know it doesn't make so much sense but setting it to random will use the Q result as starting position, while it will be effective random if there is no Q session within the weekend.
If you have a qual session it doesn't matter what the "Starting Position" option is set to. Do Qual session = grid set by qual session result. No Qual session = grid set by "Starting Position" option.
Ok, thanks guys, i only noticed this as I sometimes I skip through qualy to start from the back. I guess now I just need to start qualy and not set a time to start from back.
If other AI do not set a qual time you will be placed on grid as the 1st ("fastest") of the cars with no qual time set. eg: 10 vehicles, 9 AI + you in qualify session. 4 AI + you don't set a qualify time. You will start race in 6th.
