I converted some cars from rF1 and tried to race with them, but the AI cars consistently crash out because they take way too much of the kerbs. I have tried a couple of solutions, but the cars keep crashing into the barriers because of them going way too deep into the corners. What I have tried; -modding the .rcd file - didn't work. -using different tyres - didn't work. -decreasing aggression, qualispeed and speed in the .rcd file. - didn't work. -decreasing aggression and speed ingame. - didn't work -decreasing AI errors - didn't work. -replacing the turbo engines with a normal aspirated engine - didn't work. Is this an .AIW or a track issue? The cars show the same behaviour and crash the same way on roadcourses and ovals. The only thing I haven't tried yet is changing the suspension and ride height in the .HDV file. Has anyone ever found a solution for this issue?
You'll have to make a new aiw. Take a look here https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/track-aiws.64102/ https://www.youtube.com/user/AUSMarkP/videos
It sounds like you need to look at the AIW. I've ran into cases where I created the AIW using the Skip Barber only to find out a wider car still likes to try to follow that same path thus the wider car hits the curbs or walls because it's trying to follow the near center of that path. You would think the track corridors would override this but it doesn't seem like it. Put the track in DevMode and record new paths while not taking the corners as tight with the Skippy to account for the wider Indycar.
Thanks, what sort of racing line parameter should I add? This is the top of the file at the moment; { default { StepDistance = 5.0 StepSpeed1 = 18.0 StepSpeed2 = 38.0 StepSpeed3 = 55.7 StepSpeed4 = 69.5 StepSpeed5 = 88.6 StepSpeed6 = 113.0 StepSpeed7 = 150.0 StepSpeed8 = 185.0 StartSkill = 150.0 DrivingLine = F12016_SP_FAST, OW1_FAST, FISIR_FAST } Nigel Mansell { Nationality = British DateofBirth = 07-1-1985 Starts = Poles = Wins = DriversChampionships = Aggression = 98.0 Composure = 100.00 Speed = 75.0 QualifySpeed = 75.0 WetSpeed = 55.00 Crash = 0.00 Recovery = 100.0 CompletedLaps = 100.00 MinRacingSkill = 100.00 } The brackets are at the right places and the file works.
Play with the speedstep values. You want to increase the low values somewhat, so the AI don't aim so far ahead and cut slow corners. Be gentle with changes though.
Making a new .rcd file seems to have fixed the issues. The cars still take slightly too much kerb, but no longer crash out. Thanks for the help. The first image was before the new .rcd, the second after.
If Michael Andretti is in the pack, then he SHOULD be ramming folks. there was one season he learned to rub the rear tires of those in front of him with the end plate of his front wing. Robbie Gordon famously cussed out Micheal live on his team radio.(at Cleveland I think.)
