    ===============================================================

Yes, yes, yes, I’m working on this mod. My intention is to port it into rFactor2, obviously improving any single line of the physics to the latest code as well improving the look of the cars adopting the IBL/PBR system…

It is a big job, because the mod is very very old and developed with one of the first releases of rFactor1, but this mod deserves the attention of everybody because in my opinion it is the best of ever!

Not easy to say that, everybody can have different opinions as it is right to be… maybe I’m in love with this mod since the 2006 because I organized a lot of races and online championships with this mod, because it let me know a lot of people, worldwide, because some of them are now friends of mine… so the romantic aspect of the mod can shine more than the mod itself…

But, if we look at the physics of the mod, I can state that it is something of unbelievable for that time and still today it is very difficult to find a mod that behaves like the ETCC 2003!
Different manufacturers with cars that have totally different behaviours, great differences in speed, braking, turns, settings, tire wear, first time that were applied the ballast penalty as BOP and fascinating championships, difficult to be seen also today: this is the ETCC 2003!

If we think to the Alfa Romeo vs. the Audi 4wd… a gazelle vs. a bull and only the skills of the simdrivers to be able to take advantage by any single quality of each car, being careful of the worst sides depending of the track and weather conditions and and and… going ahead in a championship the ballast that sometime could be not a big problem, sometime a big one and and and… fights and fights, because with these cars we can do with doors! Laps by laps, race by race…

WOW, nothing more fascinating than what we raced in those years!

This is the reason I asked the permission to Yoss for this project, as representative of NFR and Yoss found several original files stored into an old HD and provided it to me a couple of months ago. Not all I need, but a good start.

A lot of other people in those years were involved in the project leaded by Yoss: they started converting it from the awesome job made by RSR for F1 Challenge creating the rFactor1 mod… several painters were involved, but currently it is very difficult to find them… maybe they could store original PSD files with the layers for each sponsor, etc…
It would be of great help, because we know, the 3d of the 2003-2006 cannot be the same quality of today and sincerely I’m not able to remodeling each different car, no time as well… but increasing the resolution of the skins brings a good looking, an acceptable level.

The state-of-the-art of the physics should be the winning aspect of the mod: I already ported re-developing and improving the Alfa Romeo (I’m going ahead in alphabetical order) and the behaviour of the car is EXACTLY the same of rF1, but feeling is much much better! Bumping, sliding... that “bastard” rear wheel that jumps on for long time in corners… wow, old cars bring old memories in driving feelings!

I fear I’ll take long time to finish the ETCC season 2003 mod, because I develop it during pauses in the Formula 3 development and I can count, at the moment, on myself only: I love what I’m doing, I do it for my pleasure at first, but everybody that wants to collaborate is very welcome!

I would recreate the whole scenario of the 2003 with all real drivers and car liveries, in case also helmets and suits, but it takes too much time for one people only and any help is appreciated.

    OMG!!!
I think that the ETCC 2003 and the DTM 2002 were my favourite mods then.
    Thank you very much

That is really awesome! It was a great mod back in the day. With your stamp on it, it should be great for rF2!

This is SlowMotion's project. He has whatever source files could be found and provided.

This is a perfect opportunity for active members of the community to chime in. From scratch-builders to converters, everyone should be able to assist in some way beyond (virtual) forum high fives.

    some new steps ahead...
    20200221161438_1.jpg

    a new class is coming...
    20200221161545_1.jpg

I would say 2 different cars in the class, the AUDI 4WD and the FWD...
    20200221161740_1.jpg

that will race with other classes too...

maybe you never look at the mod of SMMG? LOL... all of them have the PosLed as an option into the tuning. They are on by default and off by choice in the "upgrades"

I did. But as you said: On by default. The ETCC had no LED pos lights and therefore I asked to have them OFF by default :p
Maybe my original post was a bit misleading ;)

ahh now it's clearer to me. Uhmm, it is only a button to be pushed for deactivating the posled, that are useful to look at the position of each car in its class... I'm thinking to league usage if some will like to use the mod for champs, also due to different performances of the different manufacturers. In fact I think to apply also a kind of BOP, as I wrote above, but more similar to a "Server Edition"... It is a development that will last for a long time, so details will be planned later. Thanks for your suggestion!

All AUDI repainted in hires IBL/PBR. Also if AUDI in effect never ran the ETCC Season 2003 but the STCC Championship IRL, these awesome physics of both AudiSport 4WD and Kristoffersson Team FWD must be part of the mod, like they were in the original version.
    20200223163225_1.jpg 20200223163146_1.jpg 20200223163020_1.jpg

Now last little improvements and fixes, then... next manufacturer (in the meantime I just updated the physics and some setting of the Formula3, due to new docs released by FIA for the 2020 season and Jilles is modeling and mapping and Edwin is updating the aero...)
