As just discussed at discord with user "alexSchmurtz".

When people enter an online server and go on track they are represented as a yellow blob car for others already on track. (This is by intention to not have to load the car while being on track and add high latencies therefore). So yellow blob cars often occur while in online practice or qualifying session.

The problem is, when racing at night, these yellow blob cars don't have their headlights on, so they are hardly visible. That should be changed that yellow blob cars have their headlight on at night to be visible!

one of the reasons they are just blobs is to reduce the amount of data being loaded to the barest minimum. Adding even just a light pattern would increase the chance of those dreaded pauses. But you bring up a good point. They should be at least reflective so they glow even in the darkness.

First part already acknowledged in the first post, second part unlikely.

A long time ago, in our league, chris (redapg) had given the temp car some head and rear lights and the used material for the body a white emissive color, to get it being visible in the night.
But that was for rfactor 1.
If that also works for rfactor 2, with it's package system, would have to be tested.

@Bernd sounds great, that would solve the problem.

Unfortunately it is not possible in rfactor 2.
I have tried it and whatever i do, i get the error message that the Core component Vehicle Common is missing, invalid or damaged ... and the game don't starts.
Seems that it is hardcoded, that it has to be that exact version, with the correct signature and hash numbers, that are stored in the mft file.

@Bernd you won't be able to change the standard one, but you should be able to link to a new one - possibly in the .rfm? I can't remember.

The question is, how it can be linked.
I haven't found something, like the link to another safety car, for the temp car.
If you find something, please report it here. :)

@vittorio I did ask chris (redapg), that always seems to know a solution and he suggested something that seems to work.
The question is which mod you use and if you would update it.
And the whole thing must be tested on a server then.
    Would you do that?
