EDIT: nevermind i solved it. Hey guys i have created a steering wheel controller profile and i would like the game to always load from that and not the games own default like it does. How to do this? It always goes back to loading it's own default controller file when i start the game and not my own which is called "g27rf1"
that is odd, once I pick a controller profile, it stays loaded until I choose another. If you have saved your profile and then loaded it it should be the default setup. I guess one possible cause is an overly long name or use of special characters in the name. Try and name it to something very simple and probably around 8 letters & numbers. (before the .json) I've just spent 10 minutes looking for where the default controller profile is listed, and I haven't found it yet.
@Spitfire1 you've edited to say you've solved it, can you reply to the thread saying what you did? It helps others later.
\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\UserData\Controller Inside that Controller folder is all the default controller profiles plus any profiles you have saved. I won't try to explain the purpose of the Controller.json in the player folder as I'll probably be wrong. Lazza, here is where you jump in.
why yes it is, I must have had my text search box directly over that. lol Anyhow, back to the OP Find those two lines in your player.json and replace the text shown with the correct name of the file you are using. Remember to save.
I renamed it from "g27rf1" to "AAg27rf1" so that it appears at the top of the folder list of names of files so the game loads it first because that is what the game was programmed to do apparently. I should say i am using rfactor 1 not rfactor 2 but i thought the games were identical?
