    Good morning, everyone.

Being curious by nature, yesterday I tested the MAS.EXE tool with an RFCMP file, to see what was inside.
For this test, I took the liberty of using those of the VLN 2018 GT3 Liveries Pack available on RACEDEPARTMENT.

Via the game interface, I installed this RFCMP file for each car.

Then I exit the game and went to: rFactor 2\Installed\Vehicles\AstonMartin_Vantage_GT3_2019

There is a folder named VLN 1.0. I then opened the.MAS file with the MAS.EXE tool.

Then in the list that appeared, I have everything selected, to extract everything into a folder on the desktop.
We understand what it takes to have a result in the interface at the same level as official content.

So I test myself to do the operation in the opposite direction and succeed in creating a PACKAGE LIKE A PRO;)

For the MAS file no problem to create it, but once done, what are the steps to create the MFT file and then the final RFCMP file?

In advance thanks for your help.

    12 hours later:
Thanks @Corti for the link: https://docs.studio-397.com/users-guide/custom-liveries-how-to-make-an-update-rfcmp-for-league-use

Following it everything works perfectly. The new paint livery is available in the list with the nice image icon on the right side.

It could help, here are my test files: BENTLEY PHIL TEST

So now my question is . do we have to do anything after any future car update (v2.53 for the bentley at the moment), or the skin will work no matter the future car version ?

    Everything is working perfectly.

The only one step i´missing is this one:
    • NEW! IMPORTANT You now must include the upgrade.ini in your update rfcmp in this case for the Bentley: B_Cont-GT3_Upgrades.ini. This file must be packed in the .mas file along side your other files or the cars will fail to load.
    • The upgrade.ini for each car can be found in car-upgrades.mas.
    I don´t see any UPGRADE.INI

If no upgrade file available in the car-upgrade.mas, nothing to do ;)

The official mods are composed of two rfcmp files, one encrypted and the other updates that can be opened and edited

Excuse me, explain me badly. What is really encrypted are the .mas files
If you purchase the content you will find the packages in the folder "x: \ SteamLibrary \ steamapps \ workshop \ content \ 365960 \". But in the "Installed \ locations or Vehicles" folder you will find the .mas files

So the best way to do it is with the first solution, following the user guide by S397 ;)

Just to understand the problem of skins that don't load after a car is updated.
    How does it work?
There is a solution by replacing the line: VehFile = xxxxxx.VEH when there is a file .RCD This is only valid when the skin is "alone".
But in the case of an RFCMP file, when the.MAS file is extracted after installation, there is no RCD file.
Does anyone know exactly how that works?

    In this step
    590FD9F2-F375-43D2-B09C-0541F12048DC.jpeg
Arrow number 3 in screen above links your new rfcmp to that version, so when the car is updated it won’t work because the update process deletes the old version (except if it linked to a vmod) and you have to redo from that step onwards.

Yes, sort of... paid content will usually come in 2 rfcmp’s, in the example in the tutorial 2.46 and 2.47, so you will always update from the lower number and you may name your version anything you like really. In the screen I posted arrow 1 points to what was done in the tutorial...it also makes sense to have the version number as part so that you know what’s what. An example...if the Bentley is updated to say v2.57, then you’ll have 2 rfcmp’s, 2.56 and 2.57, you’ll update from 2.56 and you could name your version 2.57Phil

Ok so to make a test full of files, i took all the skins made by @Bostrom and available at RACEDEPARTMENT.
I´m happy about the result with no error (fingers crossed)

    Test_01.png

Could an expert take a look at the RFCMP file if something is missing?
    Here are the files: MAS&RFCMP
