Has anyone tried AMD's new video card with rF2? It does not have the power of the 2080, but is about 1/2 the price for about 92% of the 2080's results.(roughly from Tom's Hardware)
I would be interested as well. Specially with rf2. Any trade-offs compared to a 2070 or 2060 super? (other than the higher power consumption)
the super 2070 is above for just over 80 euros, rx has an interesting price, but we must see its performance in rfactor
The problem is rF2 is never included in any of the GPU comparisons (or most other sims for that matter). It would be nice to see some sim enthusiast do a proper comparison. For example if you check Hardware Unboxed's review of 5700 XT, it does indeed only end up 9% behind RTX 2080 on average, but in Fortnite (which is Unreal DX11 engine), it ends up a whopping 24% behind. In general AMD does better in DX12 and Nvidia better in DX11.
nvidia has always been better in rfactor, but the difference is about 80 euros with the 2070super, I don't know if it compensates or not, 10 or 15 fps or even 20 that difference, is it really worth it?
in amazon i find the 2070 super at least 150 more than the 5700xt which i honestly don't think it worth +150 euro.
@williang83 480 vs 544€ I live in Spain and that is the price, it could be that there was something cheaper, but I did not see in amazon.es https://www.amazon.es/SAPPHIRE-Pulse-Radeon-GDDR6-Triple/dp/B07W369951/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_2?__mk_es_ES=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&keywords = Zafiro + Pulso + Radeon + RX + 5700 + XT + 8G + GDDR6 & qid = 1566667539 & s = computadoras & sr = 1-2-fkmr1 https://www.amazon.es/MSI-GeForce-RTX-2070-OC/dp/B07TTSVC7K
It is not necessary to go to a 2070 Super, the 2060 Super yields 5% less than the 5700XT in general, so thinking only of rF2, it should offer a little more performance, maybe 5% or 10% for less money.
Good Golly, there are soooo many variants of the same thing. A Super, which is slower than the top of the line? Two 5700s with news of 5800 and 5900 not that far off.....oooh boy.
I would be interested in the performance difference between PCIe 3.0 and 4.0 as that is an important part for rf2. I imagine with the right board, the 5700's are stronger in rf2 then any Nvidia card or at least as strong as the big guys.
If you are going to update the complete PC, it could be analyzed, if the change is only graphic, it is not worth it, since changing the graphics board and processor is an important money, to think only about the Pcie... NOT
Really? I've heard PCIe 4.0 doesn't make significant difference. I had 5700 xt with PCIe 3.0, and it's fast, but didn't perform any benchmarks. I've returned it because with Freesync there was bad flickering with my monitor (Samsung C49HG90). In pCars2 it was the worst, completely unplayable. Actually it was least pronounced in rF2 and also RaceRoom, but still noticeable. Then I tested 1060 6GB from Nvidia, and there was still bad flickering in menus, but in games it was barely noticeable, including pCars2. Anyway I recommend buying card with third-party cooler and undervolting, because reference ones are hot and noisy.
i have lost faith on AMD cards multi monitors bugs makes card running high memory clock frequency on idle none of the drivers solve the issue also freesynq sometimes causes flickering like many people mention
I have an older MSI R480x8 Radeon that doesn't even make the lists anymore when they rate video cards. I also have a 144hz Freesync monitor and have yet to have the flickering or screen tearing some folks describe. I run some games at my 27in monitor's preferred rez, but rF2 I have reduced to 19x12 to keep the fps up.
people at Guru3D.com say that free synq has problems with flickering and tearing sometimes and Gsynq is by far superior but it is expensive
I'm thinking of picking up a 5700 XT shortly, if I do I'll put up some numbers comparing it to my current 1070
that would be great, have a good comparison in rfactor 1070vs5700 xt, I'm very interested in how it goes in full hd, you use vr?, thank you very much
I would be interested in the results on this as I currently have a 1070 and was wondering if it would be worth the upgrade.
