for almost 3 days now I can not get RF2 to start. I get as far as starting from STEAM, the UI is there with the synchronizing with Steam workshop box and stays like that for up to and over 10 min then a runtime error window apears and says Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime error! Programe Steam\steamapps\common\rfactor 2\launcher\Launch rFactor.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. I have had a look on the forum to find a fix but no joy. I have deleted the game from steam and reinstalled x3 deleted the last few files downloaded from the last few online races i had done. reinstalled windows. ( a repair ) ran the directX setup. ran all the Runtime vcredist programs. moved the UserData file so to create a new UserDater file. probably some other things that I cant remember having tried at the moment. Dose anyone know what is happening? this is doing my head in. All my other games work. Also the whole time it is synchronizing with steam workshop that window also has a Dialog (not responding) message. Im guessing that I may have some missing files somewhere, DLLs maybey. windows 10, gtx 1080,
Did you completely remove the rF2 folder when reinstalling it? (I realise the windows reinstall may have taken care of that - just checking) Does your rF2 folder have a Packages folder in it?
I get the same error message after closing rfactor2 since a few days. Something seems to went wrong with one of the latest updates, because i did not chance something else and even after restoring a backup.
https://forum.studio-397.com/index....0-removes-runtimes-after-major-updates.58239/ Update your windows 10 to the 1903 version?, I have bad news :/
@GeraArg What does that mean? The OP already ran the runtimes, per the first post. Does 1903 have special issues?
I know 2 other guys that the 1903 update broke the C++ runtimes, so don't update Windows 10 to the lastest version. :/
Got it going again, Did a full clean reinstall of windows 10, all my efforts to get it going just made things worse.
Just went from 1803 to 1903 and no problems. I'm actually a bit disappointed because I wanted to test if reinstalling the game's runtimes would fix it. Anyway, doesn't appear to be an absolute, but the sticky thread about windows updates and reinstalling runtimes is doubtless there for a reason.
