    Would any of you know what the anti-aliasing levels 1/2/3/4/5 are equal to (DX11)?

    1 = x2
    2 = x4
    3 = x8
    4 = ?
    5 = ?

    On level 2 at 1080p, everthing full, sebring, 23 gt cars, video mem usage is 4800mb

    Same setup with level 3, video mem is 6000mb ( i have a 6gb gpu)

    Level 2 is enough for me at 1080p, replays are 60fps either, with level 3, replays dip to 35fps, not to much picture quality loss vetween them(pp is on high)

    In my experience, the AA levels depend on the video card you are using and the software drivers.

    When I check the Nvidia control panel using the 430.86 driver, it gives me 3 options as the OP lists; 2xAA, 4xAA & 8xAA. In rF2, I presume level 1 is 2xAA, level 2 is 4xAA (which is what I currently use) and level 3 is 8xAA.

    That's the question.

    Not only that, but what type of AA is applied exactly ? In any case, Level 5 gives spectacular results at 4K with seemingly good performance (> 80 fps i7-8700K / GTX 1080TI) in nominal conditions (no rain or night combined with lots of visible cars).

    You still need it even at 4K. If you have an eye for aliasing. Interestingly, at very high resolutions like 4K, the image is so sharp and you can see so clearly far in the distance (ie Le Mans) that any visual imperfection (aliasing or z-fighting) sticks like a sore thumb.

    I was forcing AA thru Nvidia inspector set to override ingame settings with it set to none in config but had terrible jaggys ingame. Sooo i reverted to using RF2 AA set to 5 in config and was much better! Does anyone actually know what settings to use in Nvidia as there seems to be no instructions at all for this. Where is the user manual for RF2 to help????

    Use "enhance current settings" in nvidia panel instead of overwrite ;) it seems overwrite works only with dx9 from the panel.

    Quote from Tuttle (ISI Dev)

    Starting from a clean installation, with a clean player/config file, the best way to proceed with graphics settings is to JUST use ingame settings, pushing on high AA levels and anisotropic filtering x8 or x16 (and of course good track/car quality settings)...and that without overriding anything via inspector and/or CCP.

    (Also HDR must be ON if you want a proper modern lighting.)

    This way you can load the game and check how it looks. If you see trees are looking properly (no alpha jaggies) and texture are sharp enough to see details into it (aniso texture filtering), you can decide to be happy (and stop tweaking)...or start experimenting extra settings, outside the game.

    But this is the time where you can mess with profiles and configs, so you have to check every single step, and every single click you are doing with CCPs and inspectors, to see how things are working. May happen a CCP/Inspector change is going to mess the config.ini and cache... and you can't just roll back from those settings, without cleaning up that file (aka generating a brand new one). Same for the Players.JSON and Transparency AA, or xpaa, using False to make wrong trees looking better and then making correct trees looking wrong.

    Still, the easy way to make the game looking at best, is to go easy peasy, with standard ingame settings. This is where you are working inside our choices, instead playing with a very big mix of variables we can't control.

    I don't understand this statement! It's all dependent on the screen size, a 4k TV at 55" has the same PPI as a 27" 1080p monitor. I'm sure you'd use AA on that 27"?

    @jymp That's old advice. Ignore the HDR thing.
