I'm looking at doing AJ Foyt's #14 tonight. I'm not sure if I'll find the logos to do the other Gilmore cars (#44 George Snider and #84 Chip Ganassi).
Oh yeah I use that one a lot! It's just hard doing stuff from so far in the past. Higher rez photos are rare. And if a sponsor is still in business, the logo has more than likely changed. In looking at some pics from these two sites, it appears that the swept back side pods and the straight side pods were used during road courses. https://briancleary-bcpix.photoshel...T-Miami-Nov/G0000M1bVyLelN_s/C0000V4UJnNEBksQ http://www.comicozzie.com/gallery2/v/1985/CART/CART/?g2_page=1 I hope that will be a Genstring option, just seeing how the template mode is set up. Either way, the model is looking great! I hope more painters will come onboard, as a decent grid should be realistic to achieve. But this isn't a bad first night. I'm not sure what that logo is next to the #14. Most of the road course logos are going to be near impossible to replicate. I am searing for the Gilmore font as well.
Chris did you find the logo next to AJ's 14 ?, I don't see a good res one, been looking for a few days.
It's been rough to say the least. This is basically all of the pictures and reference that I have. It looks like all the cars have had a full sponsor livery for the race. The Ganassi car, I have yet to find any race pics for. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1JoK2M5nHN2ajLgZG2LUnMrUFXp8Sch3u If I can find the "AJ Foyt" decal from Snider's car and the Calumet Farms on the Ganassi one, I would be happy. I can made do with everything else. It all would be accurate colors on the grid. The unfortunate thing is that I'm out of town through Monday. So I won't be able to work on it any further till then. So much for picking an "easy" skin
Since logo finding is a lot harder than actually painted, I decided to work on something a little bit easier Can somebody make a wireframe layer for the template? It's will make the pin stripes on the side pod a lot easier.
I gave the demo a brief spin. Excuse me, but it's f*ckin' amazing. Top notch work with the 2D/3D work so far. Sounds are nice too, just the transition from starting to idle sounds a bit wierd. The driving experience is great and if this demo is just a teaser, I can't imagine how the full field would look like. Even without the PBR shaders it looks top notch allready. Maybe I can help a bit with skinning, but my time is rather limited atm.
Got the Geoff Brabham car done (Indy and Road). Need to get the correct GEN String with .veh done as well Almost got the Bill Whittington (Indy) done in a couple hours. Just looking for those two logos.
Will the Lola's of Mario Andretti etc. be in this mod as well ?, and why doesn't the chrome wheels show properly in the garage ??
I have done matt black rims for the Galles Valvoline Car, looks like Chris use this rims for the cars, looks great Chris, can't wait to see the cars in Game.
Chief will need to model the Lola. Hopefully it will be coming I currently have the cars added as the standard add on skin way, referencing the Galles #06 in the .rcd. I'll get the skins sent over to Chief to add them in the next update, with real .veh so they use the proper wings/helmets/skins etc I do need one! I use to know how to do it in Blender, but I can't find my tutorial. I thought I had it, but the unwrapped model was completely below the texture in the UV view. I couldn't get it to export. I've never been good with helmets, but if you have that for the helmet, that would help too. So my plan at the moment. I'm going to finish the #12 Whittington car, Indy 500 and Road course. From there I'll sent what I have to Chief to get it added properly for the next update. The Gilmore cars are there, but not complete (need help with the logos), but it'll add color to the grid. Anybody have recommendations on the next car to do? If anybody wants to assist, here is all the reference sites that I have so far (Last two have been a great find!): http://openwheel33.com/paint-schemes/1985-paint-schemes/ http://www.comicozzie.com/gallery2/v/1985/CART/CART/?g2_page=2 https://briancleary-bcpix.photoshelter.com/gallery-list http://www.rubbins-racin.com/forums...-car/50050-1985-cart-ppg-indycar-world-series https://www.flickr.com/photos/spudrace/with/5762297501/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/46681980@N03/albums http://russthompsonracing.com/1985Indyquals2.html https://bobh.photoshelter.com/gallery/Indycar/G0000O7hporJ1Pc4/1 https://cms.indycar.com/Photos/gallery?g=1576 http://www.yesterdaysneuz.com/1985 Indy 500/index.htm http://www.yesterdaysneuz.com/MId_Ohio_Indy_Cars_9_1_1985/index.htm
I can probably do a skin. I'm a little rusty so I can start with a less important one? I can probably do a skin. I'm a little rusty so I can start with a less important one. Which ones would you like me to work on?
Not sure on your comfort level. If you need a warm up car, I'm thinking the #60 Rich Vogler Indy 500 car is pretty basic. If you want a bit more of a challenge, the #22 and #23 Dick Simon cars I think would be great. Similar skins on both. It's would scratch off 2 Indy 500 cars and 2 road course cars. That's my opinion if you are unbias towards any of them.
