By that logic Photoshop is 1990. Or even 1988, since rF2 was still beta until 2013.

*Oops, bad comparison. PS has had different versions. Should have gone with iRacing :)

Well, Marcels did write a month or two back, that since LMP1 is so chaotic with it's rules, they made the choice NOT to pursue LMP1 cars at this time(I added that). That still leaves the F1 hybrid format but that is tied up by Codemasters so spending money to produce that option is both a time-suck and resource($$) hog. If I could, I'd nudge the team to produce the upcoming Tatuus' & Nords and then take a moment(like the next 12 months)to really clean up the underlying engine. It looks like the work on the freezes is progressing so that is encouraging.

all the cars in this (or any other) game are just a snapshot in time. They could just pick an era and make the cars to the rules of that era. No one is expecting them to update the car everytime the IRL rules change. There have been recent releases of F1 cars from waaay back (70's maybe?) nobody said "oh no, we can't make those cars because the rules have changed and they are not 2019 spec"

my scrambling of his words. But the result is the same, they are not going to work on LMP1.

This post is about the ERS.
Not only the LMP1 use the ERS.
The F1 leagues need a car with ERS to take a look and know how to make their mods.
The car racing technologies are changing a lot IRL.
We have combustion and electric engines, but not the hybrid ones.
rF2 has to be updated in the phisics side. Isn't it the strength of rF2?

The strength of rF2 is the tyre physics. ERS systems and whatever are tame in comparison. You could almost (well, not almost actually, you could) have a scripting type language allowing mod makers to define some objects and use various inputs to arrive at a figure for power. Complicated a bit with driver controls (and maybe setup options) but to future proof it you'd have to go that way.

Ideally you'd be able to script some control systems and even build and expose some onboard systems, so for example F1 wheels could show menus akin to real life and passenger cars could have selectable modes for diff settings or whatever makes sense. The cookie cutter approach will always be limited in a game that doesn't focus on a particular series or even type of car.

@Lazza tyre physics alone are not enough these days

You could say "I" instead of "We" (i don't need it)
Why to write your complain here?
    Don't dirty the thread, please.
    This is an off topic.
The thread isn'r ERS vs Clutch and transmission.
    Open your own thread, please.

Sorry I didn't know that you are forum administrator. ;)

There is no need to ERS (I don`t need it) there are not so many cars irl which has ERS.
I am happy with rF2 like it is now.

Then if you are happy with rF2 like it is now, the devs can make the ERS. ;)

There are so few cars in rF2 which has ERS , devs can spend they time to more important things like bug fixes, UI and earlier promised updates etc. ;)

I'm agreeing; in fact I'm pointing out that imitating vehicle systems such as electronic brake distribution, differentials, energy recovery systems and hybrid power are so simple in comparison that it's feasible to create a framework for car modelers to define the vehicle systems themselves. Make the most of rF2's point of difference while it still is.

Resurrecting this thread out of nowhere lol. It's 2020, within the next 2 years IMSA, WEC, Indycar, BTCC and even Nascar are adding hybrid systems. I realise that development has been focused elsewhere in rf2, but it's still pretty mind-blowing that 7+ years after release this sim still doesn't have hybrid incorporated. I'm assuming the brake by wire system and regen developed for the Formula E cars would already give them part of what they need. Really hope this happens at some point, in my mind this is a rather large hole in their content.
