So I drove the porsche gt3 round botnairing for a few races. And wow imo. Best car in sim racing atm the handling the ffb even the model I luv it. Thing is I haven't driven these cars for a while whilst driving other sims and when you come back to rf2 it's a world of difference to other sims. ... These newer gt cars are really setting the standards for sim cars.. OK a few issues outstanding but the core driving is unbeatable
I like all the cars in the GT3 challengers pack but I absolutely love the Aston Martin Vantage and the Audi R8 LMS. The Porsche is great, but it understeers too much and although you can fix that with some setup tweaks, for me there's nothing like the responsiveness of the Aston Martin and Audi with the default setup or just minor changes.
Luv the porsche as well. Driven it more than the others. The whole package makes it though like the sound, ffb and the rest.
Since we're all converging on GT3, which to be fair, together with F1 from all eras makes a huge part of rF2's DNA, let me add my second favourite closed wheel car, the Radical SR3-RSX from S397, freely available on the workshop. The handling is amazing, it's very forgiving and warns you in time, however, having no ABS/TC makes it tricky to master at the edge. The level of performance is akin to GT4 and it looks and feels like a prototype for amateur club racing.
There is quite a bit of awesome ones: Megane by ISI, Cobra, LX Torana, Lola T286, Howston G6 and Dissender, Callaway GT3, NSX, Celica GTO, Corvettes, Radicals, Spec Miata, Sauber C11, Caterham 7, Flat six series, 917K, Civic, Nissan GT500, Nissan Primmera BTCC, Sierra RS500.... Damn there are a lot of good ones (and possibly forgot some, or didn't know about). Most of them has something I'd discuss. Perhaps more outstanding are: Megane by ISI, Cobra, Howston G6, LX Torana (and others from Aussie Legends), Lola T286, Dissender, Callaway GT3, NSX, Celica GTO, Corvettes, Spec Miata... It gets difficult now: Megane by ISI, Cobra, Howston G6, LX Torana, Dissender, Callaway GT3, NSX, Corvettes, Celica GTO, Spec Miata. Right now it seriously gets a bit apples vs oranges thing. Megane > Callaway. LX Torana > Dissender. NSX vs Vettes is a tie, naturally would be obviously NSX but something about is not that great. Howston G6 vs Cobra is a tie. Grand final: Megane vs LX Torana. Winner iiiiis....... TORANA It drives incredibly immersive, all cars from Aussie Legends does, but this one is something special, perhaps it's iconic nature adds up, also it is a classic car, and classic cars rules. It seems like extremely honestly well made mod from all aspects, visual, audio and physical just top notch !
The one mod I keep coming back to, despite not having a major physics or tyre update since release is the FVRfactor V8 Supercars mod. If DTM and NASCAR had a kid, it'd be the Aussie Supercars. If you can drive a Ford/Holden quickly, you can drive anything.
The MOST Fun I had in my whole "simracing-life" was in rFactor2 Corvette C6 or the Honda NSX on Matsusaka aka Suzuka. Full speed, first corner and over 45 degree entry angle
Am I the only one who finds GT3 cars (ACC as well as rF2) boring as hell to drive? All that TC, ABS... and the weight of the bloody things!
Yeah it's not just the ease but the whole feel of the car it just makes for a nice experience. You can really push these cars though no holding back.
@Seven Smiles there is a GT pack comes from RSS modding group same as assetto corsa but now for RF2 GT cars from 2002 or so
If your preference is the feel of light open wheelers, then yes, the GTs will not be your cup of tea. Nothing wrong with that at all.
Yeah, that's probably it. LMPs are fine, anything more sluggish than that and I lose interest. <--- Driving that every day doesn't set me up for heavy cars - or FWD
