When you make an outstanding claim like that, which goes against everything that has ever been confirmed, it's your job to provide supporting evidence. Otherwise we don't have to take the initial claim seriously to begin with.

Regarding AC and laser scanning in general, some years ago it was claimed that iRacing scans the surrounding buildings and trees etc., whereas AC only scans the road. But these days, I think everyone obtains the same point cloud data from the track company that did the scan, so results will be very similar.

The rip from AC to rF2 dropped AC's physical layer and only used the graphic road. The graphic road is about 20x lower resolution than the physics layer.

Feeling a bit stupid defending a ripped model plus I have not checked how the actual resolution of it is. But if rubbering and drying line works nicely, then it means it is rather detailed. Also it feels quite similar to how it feels in AC.

Easy way to utilize physical road mesh of AC while using graphical mesh is simply increasing resolution of graphical mesh, and then shrinking it down on physical mesh, so it follows its geometry. That being said I always thought that AC tracks, especially non F1, has a bit nicer road than in reality, but I don't claim that I'm right about that. Looking forward so much to S397 version.

Can we steal this thread, and make it actually about Nordschleife for a while ? Title kinda fits.

Stupid funny thing I just discovered. 2019 is the year of the pig. Nordschleife layout map looks like a pig. Conclusion - 2019 us the year of the Nordschleife.

Googling dirty links wasn't an idea I was keen on, so I started this thread to find the best version.

I'd like to get in on the AC scan/not scanned discussion but I've realized the last few years I am the only man alive that does not like Assetto Corsa, never have.
That being said, the thread is yours Manta!

As Nords is being developed, I thought what would be possibilities to have rain location based in rF2, to have a possibility of dry weather at one part of the track, and then rain at some particular area.

Live news: they're delaying the VLN race because of light snow right now :p
edit: they're now racing in light snow
edit2: they're red flagging in settling snow

I've always wondered - - if a track is salted to prevent ice -- could a race still continue in light or moderate snow? I wonder if snow on the ground in runoff areas would help slow the cars like gravel does.

No it would not. Unless it was deep layer of right humidity snow. Also salt is terrible thing. It destroys roads and makes serious harm for car materials. It should only be used for extreme cases, and people should actually evolve one step higher and learn to adjust to such cchanges, so salt wouldn't be needed for little snow, except perhaps bridges and such places that get unexpectedly early ice ...

Watching this made me wonder why circuit racing is only warm temperatures thing.

Why there isn't low glass transition point tires, and also narrower width as option. Of course I understand that visibility is a major concern too. But the main thing is grip anyways. So why there aren't optional tires for very low temperatures and better suited for less casual amounts of water. Just make a pit stop, put on actual winter racing tire (which never was) and continue.

Honestly to me this look like not only bad weather, but also bad form of racing nowadays, where cars has become such that they are only suitable for optimum conditions. Formula 1 is the complete worst for that matter.
