Hello, I'm finishing a f1 mod and It appear a strange problem ; I want to give the choice for tobacco/no tobacco livery (as mclaren, etc). I've created the right path I think (skins/misc/.dds) for the two cars, and written the same options in the two .veh files for pilots, and it happen a really strange thing, it work for only one car, and not the other. I have the same problem for 2 or 3 teams, and for others , everything fit very well, I don't know if it"s clear.any idea ? thanks
so you try to change only the skin on that car, or to have a second version car with no tabacco skin?
for rf1 the skin folder must have the same name as the veh file.........Scheckter_03.veh = Scheckter_03Skin I think the Misc Folder is for other parts for the car
thanks, but it seems that it doesn't work. it is very strange because for example, for the 1986 mod, it work very well for the mclarens ((your models^^) and the veh name is "mclaren02", but the dds are "rosberg02", "rosberg02NT" , "rosberg02light" (for the light marlboro)
for example: the normal veh file is Rosberg_02.veh, the skin for the car is Rosberg_02.dds, then create a new veh.......RosbergNT_02.veh, create also a folder RosbergNT_02 and put in this folder a skin with name RosbergNT_02.dds but I'm sure it is possible, I have done this long time ago, but don't know exactly how it works
or maybe a folder with Rosberg_02Skins, and put only the new skin in that folder, I think the "_02" is important
Yes with this way is safe, but it is a bit annoying because if you have to put 3 or 4 different skins, then you'll have 4 times the same pilot, that means that I have to create "classes" for each GP, that will be the last solution for me, because only changing livery is very simple and pleasant. And you're also right with the importance of the number, but for the williams '87, I wanted to do an alernative livery with the "blue" ICI Tactel-late season, it work for Mansell and not for Piquet, and I did the same thing for both. The veh files are "williams05" "williams06" and the skins names registered are "HI_MANSELL" and 'HI_PIQUET" ...so no number.quite strange...
I have extra for you install rf1 again I have tested it with our Brabham BT52 LE and have done some Screens here you can see the AAE skin, normally the car have no second skin then I create a new folder in this folder I put in the new skin then back to game and........tarrrratarrrrra
I must be cursed ! I've done exactly as your very clear example, for Mansell, everything perfect : As we can see,the "blue ICI" works ! But Piquet is still negative : Maybe RF1 doesn't like the brazilian ahah
there must be a mistake, I'm sure, and I know how it sucks to find so little things, I know what I'm talking, sometimes I search very long to find it..........I think there must be a wrong letter, maybe a wrong space in the name or so maybe it's better to rename all Piquets file to a other name, only to test it, or try the Piquet Skin for Mansell and look if this work
I'm trying in any way and searching for an error, and I tell you.I think I am very careful for these things.I've renamed the files maybe ten times Yes, I've updated the skins & front wings for the 1987 FW11B
and I thought, wtf, the model looks better as mine upload only the car folder for me, I will take a look if you want
Ahah yes Finally the problem has been solved, and as it often happen, it was both very simple and quite vicious, and the problem was not even the gen string ; when I was building the teams, sometime I changed the name of the carbody material "WCCARBODY", in order to avoid some confusion with the skins and car numbers. Wrong idea. It is was not only not necessary, but it was the problem. For the williams example, the game allowed the Mansell's alternate livery because the material name was the orginial "wccarbody", but Piquet was changed in "Wccarbody_06". I've tried to rename the original material, and the miracle happens : So now it works of course everywhere ! many thanks for your time and your help
