Is there any plan from Studio 397 to release any GT4 DLC?! GT4 series has become very popular in the last few years so I think it would be very successful DLC for rfactor2. Cars like the Porsche Cayman GT4 would be a great addition to rfactor2. Is there any GT4 third party mod for rfactor2?
I agree that GT4 would be a great addition to the rF2 lineup. I was really hoping that the McLaren 570 would come with the Shadow competition, but it did not. Sadly, AFAIK, nothing has been announced or in progress in both official or third party. The closest thing is there is a GT4 mod WIP for AMS. But once that is complete, there isn't many people out there doing conversions for rF2.
To be honest i'm surprised a lot to see no GT4 cars (except the old Nissan 370z) in rF2. With GTE and GT3, GT4 class is a must if you consider that every multiclass race where the top class is GT3, there is always the GT4 class as second (12h Bathurst - 24h Nordschleife to name the biggest events). Is the missing link from touring cars to GT3 cars.
But no offline multiclass racing . In rF2 I use the BTCC mod for good ‘traffic’ when I am in a GT3. GT4 would be nice..obviously.
There was this one at Laguna Seca this year (and again next year) https://www.intercontinentalgtchallenge.com/entry-list/2018/laguna-seca
Well the argument has been that rF2 should do a full grid of one series of cars. So that would be the first goalpost. Now when that happens, sure we can always have more cars and some people will then complain category X is missing no matter how many cars they add. But I don't see how it's surprising that a small sim doesn't have licensed every type of series and car. Besides, multiclass racing also means you need to own all the packs before you can join a server, so the more DLC's and categories you add, the more obstacles you create for a new user.
But i'm not complaining, and i wasn't even talking about official content only, what surprises me is that it looks like there is no interest in GT4 cars at all. GT4 class and/or someother slow gt car like a Ginetta G40 Cup, a Lotus Cup or even a MX-5 Cup would 100% cover the hole between what we have now, BTCC/Clio Cup to GT3/GTE cars. There is interest in low/mid tier open wheelers but not in low/mid tier GT cars, for example.
It's pretty much a one-off event for us even though it's part of an international series. No where near as well-known as the IMSA events.
Well I consider GT4 senseless in game (except if it is a spec series like a Porsche or Ginetta). Like P3, both class make sense IRL but in game not so much. For offline would probably work with grid fillers, online.... I have never seen this class get a decent amount of cars on a constant basis. A touring car class would be way better A pack with more P2/DPi and more GT3 would be far more interesting and beneficial to the game. IMO.
I see there is also a GT4 cup in the USA too https://world-challenge.com/competi...a-2019-championships/?tab=pirelli-gt4-america I think it is fair to say that GT4 racing is not as popular as GT3 anywhere in the world. I personally quite like the challenge of passing slower cars, and I also like racing some of the slower cars on and off line as a different series. It would also allow for an option for rookie drivers in online leagues.
I doubt. https://twitter.com/mike_hedlund/status/973256832805306376 (read the thread) Rookies will rarely get into cars that are harder to drive, especially because sims tend to make things harder than real life due to lack of g forces.
Ah, you're right! Starting a second year. It's been a very quiet introduction, I think. Wonder how they're positioning it compared to SCCA's fragmented TransAm classes?
I would also love to see GT4's, as well as some Ginetta, MX-5, & other club car race groups. I think the slower cars would be great for some online fun & frolics.
I loved the 370Z that ISI released, that was GT4 Spec IIRC, agree with @Magus slower cars do provide some awesome racing.
I would like us to have some official GT4s (~ 4) with the Nissan and some additional official BTCCs (~ 4) with the Civic. 2 additional official GTE, some new official LMP2, some official LMP1s. EDIT : Also 5 GT1 ... even if the category no longer exists. I play offline and 80 cars of all these classes on the Nordschliefe would make a race absolutely fabulous. Race to which I could add the new DTM of URD and other well chosen cars, for a race corresponding to 24 hours in changing weather condition ..... exceptional !
