I can't find the version of Sebring Virtua_LM that was available on Steam. I was subscribed to this track and it has disappeared. Does anyone know what has happened to this track?
I dont know but thats why i dont like this "workshop way". If the author, for some reason, decide to take down the file, also will uninstall from your system when sincronizing with steam workshop (someone please correct me if im wrong in this thinking). Probably i have this file in a backup i did but im not completly sure (had to check) because uninstall this track when bought the laser scanned version. If the mod team is ok with sharing the file again here (and if i still have it) i can disponibilize
Thanks Louis! I found an old version in Racedepartment (https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/sebring-international-raceway.106/). But I don't know why it has disappeared from Steam.
I doubt that... You'll always have the RFCMPs available on the innernette - futile, they know that, I'm sure.
Did not thought this way but its not impossible. Could be taken down for legal issues. I started to backup because f1 mods on workshop and FIA or FOM taking down some content (because the skins in Automobilista) in the past edit: the original thread still in the fórum https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/virtua_lm-sebring-international-raceway.47966/
Hmm, I still have Sebring v2.02 installed, but I have to admit I don't know if I subscribed to Steam for it.
+1 because you never know when something on Steam (or sites on the intergoogles) can be yanked. The reason doesn't matter.
You can see in rf2 control panel of installed stuffs. If letters are in italic, then the mod was installed through workshop. Mouse over for a time tells you too
Might be because the full monty laser scan version's now out and no one will want to use that anymore. Shame, because it's the bet alternative for those who can't run the 397 one.
I don't think that's the case i.e. if you unsubscribe from Workshop it's still installed on your PC but you won't get automatic updates. But I would have to verify what happens when mod is taken down from the Workshop. Fortunately there are alternative track repositories : https://simracing-gp.net/rFactor2/tracks So for instance for Sebring you can get it from : https://www.simroad.com/virtua_lm-sebring-international-raceway-v2-02-released/ Still I'd like to know the reason it was taken down from the Workshop.
I think you are wrong on this. Unsubscribe is how to unistall a track that is on workshop. Just test it. So thats what should happen when a track is take down. When sincronizing, your track is not anymore in rf2 list (ingame) But i dont know if rf2 keep somekind of backup folder so i do my own
Apex have a version coming out don't they also based on lidar? Did the virtua team have any input into the Apex one maybe?
Maybe the authors just considered unecessary to keep the track in the workshop after the release of the official track and I think it's a great attitute. Modders should focus more on completing content rather than competing with the game developer imo
I'd agree they could remove it if there was much better free alternative, but not everyone wants to pay for a track even if it's best quality (i.e. just to drive few laps)
