Would be a good night there tonight SS with Symons only 15 minutes down the road . Such a shame they axed the bridges
Headed back now after 1200+ miles of the best roads on the globe , managed to not hit any creatures which is handy in a sprite
Crossed the finish line of my journey at my local historic , Geelongs ‘Eastern Beach ‘1/4 mile this morning . 1251 miles by road 477 by sea .[/IMG]
after bwana's adventures, a little bit more of Tassie. Targa Tasmania They've run stages including parts of Longford in the past. Not this time though. Highlights from day 1 to day 6, the finish. also, cheeky, i've made a small edit to my sig, below
My mate Matt Close was running for the win , chasing down 3 seconds on the final day and 3 corners in , cold tires and binned it . Luckily for him he is a Porsche sponsored driver
was reading Historic Car Club of Tasmania's Facebook page, which regularly features photos of Longford, and came across this video of Longford in 1968. No sound, but hightlights include a Mini leading a Mustang, Graham Hill leading Jim Clark in the cigarette-sponsored Lotus (pre-wing) in the first of the two Tasman Races (the second was nearly rained out - results here - winner, Piers Courage in a McLaren M4A). Also shown is Chris Amon in a Ferrari CanAm 350 (chassis 0858, formerly Ferrari 330 P4 which finished second at Le Mans 1967 (as #21)). I've also just come across this radio clip/slide show from the 2011 Longford Revival Festival. Features well-know local radio presenter interviewing guests/drivers, which went out live at the event and on Tasmania's ABC radio. http://www.abc.net.au/local/videos/2011/04/06/3184287.htm - And interviewing Klaus Bischoff from the Porsche Museum which was showing at the event. I was there, showing Longford in rFactor 1. I also found some time to see a 962 on the Flying Mile. They couldn't run it flatout because the road was a little too bumpy, and it was visibly working it's suspension hard. also, a Longford update is in the works, mainly focused on texture brightness, but also including a few small enhancements (and hopefully the new lighting and puddle features)
these are not Ferrari P4s or 350s, or Lola T70s, or stock Howston G4s, or the currently available version of my Howston G4 1967 Endurance mod (based on ISI's/397's Howston G4) Yes, that's the in-development update for Longford, and the in-development update for my mod to the G4s, now including modified body meshes and custom wheels, to compliment the physics sets from the currently available version
they're just a predilection of mine. You'll notice Le Grand Circuit 1967 has them too! j/k, j/k, i joke What a fine time of year to ask! It's where the drivers start from in an old-style Le Mans running start. Seen at Suzuka in the 8hr Bike race, and possibly other events. Longford used them for a while in touring car races, but stopped before '67. https://dyler.com/posts/26/jacky-ickx-the-le-mans-legend-who-changed-the-start-of-the-race
