I am aware that controlling the mirrors is usually the same as the seat controls, but with the use of Ctrl and Alt at the same time. The sim says "mirror mirror mirror" each time I press the buttons and the numbers change in the notification panel, BUT the mirrors don't actually move. Have I missed something?
Thanks for the replies - all mods that I use have the ability to adjust each mirror, but for some reason this has stopped. Tried Shift + seat movement and now both mirrors are moving at the same time
I just tested with the GT3 Merc and it all worked. You said the shift +seat moved both mirrors, that is correct and has always been. I'll repost this info below for you. Thanks to @Paulfield The controls are your seat movement plus Ctrl/Alt/Shift; it doesn't matter whether you use the left-Shift or right-Shift, it's just Shift. Shift + seat forwards/backwards tilts all your mirrors left and right. Shift + seat up/down tilts all your mirrors up and down. Ctrl + seat forwards/backwards tilts your left mirror left and right. Ctrl + seat up/down zooms your left mirror in and out. Alt does the same as above, for the right mirror. Ctrl+Alt does the same as above, for the centre mirror. Ctrl+Shift + seat up/down changes 'mirror size' for all mirrors. Looks like an overall zoom of sorts. (There is a PLR option "Rearview Independent"; I think if you set this to 1 you can use Ctrl+Shift+seat forward/back to adjust the horizontal FOV of the mirrors independently of the vertical) Alt+Shift + seat up/down physically moves the centre mirror up and down. Alt+Shift + seat forward/back physically moves the centre mirror left and right. Finally, if your seat position has put the mirrors completely out of whack and you can't get them to adjust enough, try changing the PLR option "Moving Rearview" so your head position no longer affects the position and/or FOV of the mirrors.
@ADSTA - That was my understanding of the mirror adjustments as well. It seems that Seat + shift works, but the Ctrl and Alt variants aren't working.
Thanks Mate , especially the "Moving Rearview" part . Some carsCi just haven't been able to get right , I look forward to trying with this setting now .
You'll most likely have to adjust the zoom in out and even more so the FOV mirror controls. It is definitely worth spending the time to get the mirrors correct. When viewed in the mirror you want everything in correct proportions of distance away and size. Then the cherry on top. Extend the viewing distance. In your player.JSON, graphics section, find: "Rearview Cull":false, "Rearview Cull#":"Whether to cull objects in the rearview based on visgroups in the SCN file", Set that to false, and as it says, it will stop objects popping in and out of view according to their distance away. "Rearview_Back_Clip":5000, "Rearview_Back_Clip#":"Back plane distance for mirror (0.0 = use default for scene)", If what was said is true then that is 5000 metres you can see in the mirror, give old Steve Austin a run for his $6 mill. Person who told me about this has his at 10,000. Hopefully now you will have realistic mirrors.
Thanks Mate ,yeah I was wondering about how to remove the pop in . I will definitely be giving this a try although i can imagine the fps hit . Im already struggling a bit on certain tracks (Adelaide, but man that track rocks) . I can't believe we have all these Aussie tracks , I just wish they were better optimised . Thanks @ADSTA for all your help getting rF2 to its best .
And they suddenly start working today - can move the mirrors individually. Why, I don't know. The only thing I have changed is the rear view back clip distance to 1000.
I've found quite a few cars recently that dont have any mirror adjustment @ADSTA , thanks heaps for you file tweaks , the mirrors are great with no pop in and i can see forever in them also 1 less thing to stuff around with only 100 things left , lol
Great info in this thread, does anyone know if there is a way of showing the rear of you car in the mirrors,I’ve always set my mirrors this way in iracing, here I have to park in the pit lane and adjust to what I think would by just shy of seeing the rear of my car
you could play around with the player.json file, from my experience doesn't work well with all cars. Look for this line and change Code: "Self In Rearview":"", "Self In Rearview#":"Empty for nothing, * for everything, otherwise list comma-delimited instances you want _removed_",
How about now after a few tweaks i have all cars in mirrors with a bluish bubble coming from the rear of their cars ?? It doesn't show this when looking at cars in front or in look behind but rather just in the mirrors themself the cars have it . Like a bluish ball on all cars at any track it seems !
