That's to do with the helmet pivot point, separate from all other objects when saved. I am wanting to try settings myself as I have the same problem.
I tried to use the rf2_generic_driver and others as well. It works great on 3dsimed. I succesfully moved the helmet managing the pivot point and it works well in game. But Im having some strange problem with the driver. See the picture attach. Any suggestions? --------> SOLVED: /index.php?threads/major-issue-with-animated-driver.53188/#post-892906
Hi This thread is a bit old but I just want to ask here (there is no need to create a new one) because im following this steps but the model never gets animated in 3d simed even when I select the .anm. Something I am missing for sure but I cant figure out. Cheers.
What kind of animation is it? Try it with a Driver where you know that it works in the game, to see if you make something wrong. Import the driver gmt into 3dsimed, then click the button 'edit' in the menu. Now click the button 'Face Data Attributes' and in the window, that appears now, scroll down to the end, to the field 'New Animation'. Click into the empty field at the right side and select the animation. Click ok. Now the driver should use the animation and move.
Do you have the mod in devmode? If not, put in into devmode and load a veh file. If then the Driver still don't moves, there must be something basical wrong.
I don't know about 3dsimed, but make sure your gen file is correct: Instance=DRIVER { Moveable=True MeshFile=driver_max.GMT CollTarget=False HATTarget=False LODIn=(0) LODOut=(8) ShadowCaster=False Reflect=True MeshFile=driver_Med.GMT CollTarget=False HATTarget=False LODIn=(8) LODOut=(20) ShadowCaster=False Reflect=True MeshFile=driver_Low.GMT CollTarget=False HATTarget=False LODIn=(20) LODOut=(80) ShadowCaster=False Reflect=NoLOD AnimFile=DUDE_STEER.ANM }
In my case this animation works in game. Im just trying to fit the hands on the wheel because if I change wheel position arms went crazy even moving them the same valors
You need to use 3dsmax to get the driver hands positioned correctly. Thisis how I do it https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/modders-tip-and-tricks-share-your-tips.58606/
You should also check out Studio 397's modding resource page. Especially page 15 of the car modding pdf. As well as the driver example file for 3dsMax.
You can preview it in 3dsimed the way you're trying just make sure animation is ticked on. It's an option in the display tab if I remember correctly. To modify it the best way is 3dmax like Nibiru advised. It is possible to move the whole driver in 3dsimed however you need to offset the pivot point for the model in order to not brake the animation. It's a pain, trail and error pain, and it doesn't always work out right. TK
