It does but I have noticed sometimes doing it in this way sometimes locks up my computer. I typically start SteamVR and then open rfactor 2. I also sometimes get lockups if SteamVR and oculus rift home are starting at the same time.
I don't launch SteamVR before rF2. I just launch rF2 from Steam Library. An important thing is that when i close rF2, the SteamVR remains open. I close manually from Steam to avoid problems if i have to launch rF2 later.
Same here (DK2). I just start rF2 from desktop shortcut. Forcing steam VR to close after closing rF2 is also mandatory for me before starting again rF2.
Ill try it tonight when I get home. I have not tried to open rF2 without first opening SteamVR first. Also the OP was using Oculus Rift so there is the added layer of Oculus software needing to open as well.
FYI You don't need the oculus software open to run VR in RF2, mine stays closed with just the drivers doing their thing in the background *I think*. Run oculus home as admin and stop it loading with windows, SteamVR takes care of the rest. Of course you'll then have to run oculus home manually if you want to play/do anything else, simple shortcut does the trick
quoted from google: If you set Oculus Home to Run as Administrator, it will not automatically launch in the background when starting Steam VR games. This might save some valuable resources as well as make Steam games launch faster. This will also, however, cause Home to not start automatically when you put the Rift on your head. So there's two sides to this so to say. To set Home to start as Administrator, you right-click the Oculus shortcut -> Properties -> Compatibility and down at the bottom you check the box "Run this program as an administrator". Done! It then won't load as described
I don't know if it was a SteamVR update at some point, but I cant load either rfactor 2 or RaceRoom now if SteamVR is already open
Thanks for the info. I'll try that tonight and see how it goes. Lord knows I need to try and squeeze as many frames as possible from the graphics engine.
