Paid mods are absolutely not better, especially at the physics level.

The best is to give a donation to the modders of high quality, if they accept it.

For me, the best modder and very far:
    Slowmotion ("marcoround" on steam).

The ISI / S397 mods are almost always the best (mostly at the physics level).

    And there are some pearls.

Paying: the modder URD, the physics are not sensational.

Bought in priority the DLC of S397 .... they are really excellent.

There's paid 2017 mod ACFL, you'll have to search for it online. Warning though, it has league physics.

There's a set of free mods on internationalsimracing.com of varying quality. The most polished work I tried so far is F1 2013 by Frenky, but it is not a V10. 1996 mod is progressing and looks promising.

There are no known paid tracks I know of. RaceRfactor and tracks from F1 1988 are easiest to get started with imho :)

For relatively "modern F1", I strongly suggest you to use only official content = Marussia + Formula F1 ISI.

It is for me useless to use a mod with beautifull cockpit + beautifull sounds if physics are not.... very very good.

You can't have any car/series in a real simulator ;)

RF2 is nothing like AC, 99% of the mods are free, including the official tracks and cars, with few exceptions, most of them recent.
So don't use the status of paid or free or the price as your guide of quality in RF2.
All of the official tracks are good and many of the 3rd party ones and same is true for the cars.
You should also go ahead and purchase the S397 GT3 if you like GT3s, the cars are great.
Most tracks have already been updated to DX11 and modders are in the process of updating most of their content with the latest rain effects so that is something to keep in mind as well when choosing stuff, depending on your current goals.
On Steam you will find all the official content and most quality 3rd party mods.

If you are mainly interested in realism:

    marussia and F1 ISI.

I'm pretty sure you will not have more realism on the other simulations.

If you prefer (like the majority of people, and there is no harm in it), the immersion / sensations / graphics / sounds + choice of the season of F1 (V10 etc.): look at the modding, as on AC there is almost everything.

But you will surely sacrifice realism + or - depending on the mods.

RF2 is a "gas plant" (French expression).

If you want to appreciate it, you'll have to understand why you're bored with this gas plant:

to have access, and very very far, to the best overall realism, all simulations combined.

The essence of RF2 is to get as close as possible to professional simulations (eg RfactorPRO).

I advise you not to download any mod car:

it should not be a consumer like with RF1, but be selective for the mod car actually exploit the huge capacity of the physics engine of RF2.

Otherwise, you will ruin your experience and you will see that the many bad side, and you will say constantly AC is more realistic/better graphics-performance etc ....

and you could not go wrong anymore.

It's just advice, you're about to give up on the best simulation of the market (and really, from very very far).

ASR's one is much better, I've found. The Ferrari pack was rather disappointing.

I can name various free tracks mods better (performance and graphics) then officials (just wont say names because i may forget someone and hurt his feellings :D) . Vehicles is hard to compare, but i think people should do a list of "must have" to newcomers

    Bathurst 3PA
    Misano
    Imola (Senormen)
    Red Bull Ring (Senormen)
    Donnington Park
    Croft

    Adelaide

    Cars:

    FVR Factor V8 Supercars

If you are searching F1 2017 mod, then you should look at this:

PD: Please, don't start again posting VS comments. I don't give a single ........ about the modder who created this mod but it is looking good and this guy has to know it. The modder said it will be released in 10 days.
