I've been notified that some skins aren't working. They are all black. The person who has brought this to me has opened the DDS files in photoshop and they show as just a black template. Is there anyone who has downloaded them having the same problem? They are all working fine for me so I have no idea how or why this is happening. So far I've only got one person bring this to light.
This may look simple enough but 90% off the sponsor logos are first made as vector. Some are not found on the internet so have had to be made off pictures off cars that carry it or in some cases off pictures of packaging. Such as the M.U Sport logo on the Castrol car above. Sorry to confirm they may be a problem with your skin or current version of RF2. I downloaded this very nice Castrol Callaway, installed it as a virtual drive, and in game I got a flickering black screen when I choose your skin in the garage. Had to exit game, could be user error, but it is not the first skin I install a skin as a virtual drive in game. As I was wondering if it was a problem with the Hangar view, as some users had reported problems with the Flat6 mod in the spinner view, I tried a second time, checked that Hangar view was selected, and reloaded this virtual drive without any problem (spinner and on track). From what I've read about the flat6 it sounds like a SpinnerGEN entry isn't quite right so your problem here is not the same. The person who was having trouble earlier has corrected his issue. Not sure why it would have been this way but the skins he got were installed to a folder that he had created earlier though the spinner for this car. All the cars he got from my download showed all white. The issue was the folders name wasn't the same as my. Once the folder was re-named to match the one I added to the install instructions, all the liveries (new virtual drivers) worked without issue. Unfortunately I wasn't given the name of the folder for comparison. Secondly I'm using the new Intel DDS plugin for Photoshop. These skins are saved using the highest setting off BC7. The file size is equal to a 4096x4096 using nVidia DXT5 but the compression rate is quite a bit cleaner. The down side to this is they don't work in DX9. So if you've chosen to stay with the DX9 install this could be the problem. Let me know if this helps.
I am running the latest DX11 version. May be my post was not clear, and I am sorry for not explaining myself adequately. On the first load of your skins I had the problem of the black flickering screen (all screen, not the car) while trying to load your skin in the hangar showroom. Before removing your skin from the Callaway directory, I restarted the game, and the problem had disappeared without any action from my part (just checked which showroom was selected, but I had only one the S397 Hangar view). New livery at RaceDepartment. Install has changed on account of a couple of reports. New instructions for extracting Zip at download page.
Manual install: rFactor 2\UserData\player\Settings\(What car it is). Some Zip/rar files are packed so all you need is to extract to rFactor2. The extract will do the rest. Install instructions are on the download page for what car you've got.
