I forgot how bad the anti-aliasing settings in rF2 are. For a long time i have been using a configuration that i found in the forums which give an amazing graphical upgrade without compromising performance.... https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/howto-improve-anti-aliasing-on-dx9-nvidia.58133/ @bobbie424242 So, the bad news is: this is not working anymore in dx11, this is really HURTING MY EYES. I imagine isn't too hard to find a solution on dx11, and definitely will give an amazing graphical upgrade. Automobilista already gives us the option to set Supersampling together with anti-aliasing (dx9). So please, for the LOVE OF GOD, solve this as soon as possible.
I think I've got it working. I read somewhere that some DX11 games work by using Enhance the application setting - NOT override. rFactor 2 Level 3 AA - I read that this is 4x Multisampling. Nvidia Inspector I tried setting Multisampling in Inspector and not rf2, but I couldn't get this to work. I haven't had much time to test the visual improvement, but the Sparse Grid Supersampling setting does affect the framerate.
If you have a good GPU, an Nvidia, try this : - 4k resolution OR 4K DSR nvidia with 15% (not the standard at 33%) - Use ***ONLY*** the AA of the game. With AA on 132cm screen (52") : - No AA : ok but could be better - Level 1 : aliasing very good but not perfect - Level 2 : perfect for my eyes (I use no AA and DSR 4K on 52") - You can try more. With 4K it is not an obligation to use shadow blur. Not only an improvement of aliasing, but also 4X more details, better texture filtering etc.
1080p, anti-aliasing level 4, look ate the wheelload values, horrendous. Only option left is DSR, and the performance?
Way better, my screen is a 32", but now i'm running around 100 fps, usually my fps keeps stable in 120.
The menu isn't exactly using high-res or scalable fonts, it's based on 90's ISI tech. No point in trying to optimize AA for it. In-game AA works well for me already with levels 2 or 3, higher gives little added benefit. Also it's crucial to use DX11 build, DX9 uses some older anti-aliasing methods that can't deal as well with white lines on track etc.
Do not forget: if you play DSR 4K, it is not at all mandatory to put shadow blur ON. What you lose in FPS, you can recover it like that.
it's horrible to play on 4k tv, more delay, more lag, better more hertz 1920x1080, no more resolution
