A fantastic race that you just couldn't make up! For me this was the best motorsport championship that I've watched this year.
Bloody hell what a finish, won't spoil it for others but that's the most exciting finish for years. Thoroughly enjoyed this season one of the best in recent years I think, the DJR-Penske lot really stepped up and will be better next year...roll on Adelaide!
@SPASKIS These guys are talking about Race2. Newcastle. The Final race for the 2017V8Supercar session. You'll find it here, http://burningwhee1s.blogspot.com.au/2017/11/v8-supercars-2017-round-14-newcastle.html#more
At the start of the last race McLaughlin led the champ and only needs 11th to win it . Win cup needs to win and McLaughlin fail. McLaughlin on pole of the 250 km race .. Just crazy start to finish ...
rubbins racin lol. One of the best races I.ve seen. Some good sportsmanship too. Reynolds was the surprise of the season really. I think hes a bit of a knob but he and Erebus did well this year. Even the Nissans are starting to show some pace.
Ahh, race 2 Newcastle! If there was ever a race to fall in love with this series; this was IT! I don't always see the races because of the time they are televised here, but I saw this one coming and taped it. After that; the F1 race could only disappoint (and did just that, big time!) Penalties were given pretty fair and quick, lots of action, the thrill of the championship, the sportsmanship, the lack of "whehe, he did this or that to me" and I can go on for three pages. Next year; I tape every race and try to follow it the whole season
Instead forgetting to tape a Round (in case that happens!) you can buy a season pass to SuperView: https://www.supercars.com/superview-videos/ 39.95 AUD for this season (next season may change) and you get every Qualifying & Race throughout the season, so for the price it's very good value. All available very shortly after each session and you can watch them whenever you want through the course of the year.
It was a step in and it's so the fire guys have access to the track, deadset unlucky to hit it though. He did well to get the car off the track and behind a barrier after that.

I watched the Craig Lowndes Lap/Guard Of Honour earlier today from Newcastle, not gonna lie I had a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye. An absolute Legend of the Sport and indeed of Australia itself, a person who was lucky enough to cook me breakfast at Bathurst in 2014, I was then the lucky one in 2015 when I saw his 100th Supercar Race Win at Hidden Valley...both moments lodged in my happy memory forever more. He was one of a kind and someone who will be missed from the actual Races even though he'll be around in Supercars for years to come (including the Enduros of course), end of an era and one I'm so glad that I had a privileged access too. Thank You Craig Lowndes.
I watched from the stands, it was a great tribute. The walk he did down pit lane and the camaraderie shown by the other drivers and teams was very special. Then he won the driver's driver award of V8SC at the gala dinner. Bloody awesome. I will have to find someone else to follow in the comp now.
