    Hello!

I'm trying to adjust tyrewear in my mod, and i have a little problem. In "DegradationPerWearFraction" table i set value = 0 at the end to lost grip when the tire is gone. But unfortunately in game it's happening when wear is ~60% (it is 40% tire "to use"). My question is - why and how to fix it? :p

I don't understand what values of "AbrasionCurveWLFStartStep" mean. I read "rF2_TGM_TyreTool_QuickStart_V3", but there is not clear info about this parameter. Can somebody explain me what "start" and "step" value doing?

This is [Realtime] tab from TGM file of front tires.
    Code:

I wonder if you're experiencing the most used part of the tread going to zero while the average wear is 60%? Since we only get one wear value we can't see if part of the tread is already close to 100% wear and has no grip. I haven't tried such a sudden dropoff myself, can't immediately see any reason it wouldn't work.

Don't worry about the WLF, it's not something you need for adjusting degradation (those lines do help determine the nature/amount of degradation, but you probably won't need to change them).

Thank you for reply. So, what should I do to "explode" tyre when it's 100% worn out? If i have a "normal" last value in DegradationPerWearFraction my tyres work very well after 100% of degradation.

'AbrasionCurveWLFStartStep' creates a curve strictly related to 'AbrasionVolumePerUnitEnergy' values. 'Start' is log(aT*v) value applied to first curve value, and 'step' sets increments to create rest of curve points.
RF2 wear rate depends on some factors, like speed and temperature. When log(aT*v) is a certain instant value then instant tire wear will be the one you assigned on the curve.
It is difficult to explain in a few words, but if you use isi spreadsheets available you will understand. ;)

But i am not sure that will help you to make 'explode' suddenly the tyres. Perhaps you would be interested in trying same method using 'DegradationPerUnitHistory' parameters, which i think i remember makes a sudden effect if you set last value to 0. However, this one depends on tread tire temperatures you reach while driving, i think there are no indicators to know how close you are to the finish.

So, i'm trying with modulating values of different parameters and gain some knowledge about 'how it works'. And now my finish effect is almost satisfactory, but one thing is still unexplained for me. When tyrewear in game is 50% it looks like 'AbrasionVolumePerUnitEnergy' reaches last value from the table. So if i set last value as 0, when tyreware in game is 50%, tyre lost all thereof grip. Which parameter responds for that? 'Step' of 'AbrasionCurveWLFStartStep'?

Supposedly it is not linked to wear %. It is thermal degradation. It depends on temperatures you reach while driving:

DegradationCurveParameters=(398.15,4400) >>>> first value is minimum kelvin temperature to start thermal degradation. Second value is time step. The higher the step, the more time takes to advance to next grip multiplier on
    DegradationPerUnitHistory.

Try a low temperature threshold and/or a small time step and you will lose all grip very soon.

Thanks a lot for help! The difference between rF1 and rF2 in this area is absolutely huge!!!

I thought degradation per wear fraction is very much rF1-esque. The deg curve and history are another kettle of fish entirely. But unlike rF1 where the whole tyre wears as one, in rF2 the wear is modeled at points all around the tyre. This is why flatspots happen and aren't a separate effect.

Abrasionvolume determines how much rubber you lose with the current temp and speed, then the wear fraction degradation curve gives you your outright grip loss. What we don't actually know is what the single wear % means, but for sure that's not as clear cut as rF1.
