It is an incremental temporary update to fit our championship with the Clios avoiding cut track. It also increase pitlane speed to 80kph. As I said it updates v 1.54 to 1.542. Place it in the packages folder and it will appear as an update for v1.54 that I prevoiusly linked andthat you need to have installed It won't get to a specfic stand alone version. You can create a new standalone package for private use.
I recorded this on initial release to show the nice night lighting effects on tracks with 'proper' lighting. This was before patches to improve performance. It took me a couple days to edit so the benchmarks are probably off already, and likely to keep improving.
My PP is set to Ultra and I'm having no problem getting close to the car. Try using onboard cameras instead of TV or trackside cameras.
I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve but I agree that a user controlled focus option would be awesome to have. If it's at all possible I would like to be able to change daytime and weather during a replay. More camera options in general wouldn't hurt either. Like saving a camera set up by the push of a button, a faster camera movement would be nice too. I've been waiting for someone to make this for 5 years so it's probably never gonna happen.
