I've tried a Google search and couldn't find anything. Does anybody know how to create a new LCD font? I've tried opening the Formula ISI bmp and rubbing out their numbers and putting my own in, however it still shows the shape of the Formula ISI LCD font even though I changed it to this:

So since that doesn't work, how can I go about creating one from scratch? Is it as simple as starting a new project in Photoshop, creating the squares and putting my text in? Because it doesn't seem like it to me, seeing how it still knows the shape of the old number even if the colour is gone.

Have you tried to rename your modified Font File and used that changed Name also in the Cockpitinfo.ini?

Of course I have, This isn't the font which was originally with my mod, I stole this BMP from Formula ISI so it's still showing the Formula ISI font, only it's the dark blue background colour because I rubbed it out completely, and then coloured it in to match the background thinking that would get rid of it.

So I don't think it can be done, and I have to start from scratch. So I want to know what would I need to do.

And you have edited the Texture and the Alpha Channel also?

Oh, no I haven't. I'll check that out now. Maybe it's outlined there somewhere.

Edit: Yep, that was it, the alpha channel had the old font on it. So I gotta just create a new Alpha and that should fix it.

Well obviously you don't draw your fonts manually in 99.9% cases. But you still need to manually create the bmp file which is difficult and the whole point of this thread. Stuff like kerning or even aligment is something I have not yet managed to achieve in rf2. Maybe someone knows how to do it or maybe everybody just steal their fonts from everybody else?

Write them out using the font, then rasterize and move into the correct squares?

Google kerning for starters... For digital font all letters are same width. For lcd display the letters are not the same width. A dot (.) is different from "8". How do you fix that width in rf2? Also there is some trick into getting the text to align to left/right/top/bottom in rf2 but I have no idea really how to do it. Some special tga file type? Gimp can't do it, inkspace can't do it, paint.net...

Maybe there is a program that can output bmp fonts that work in rf2? I've tried at least 5 programs and none of them seem to be able to do it. Littera, fontstruct, bmfont...
