I think the worse possible scenario for me personally would be a DX11 upgrade without VR support, which would mean I would still be sitting on the sidelines and counting the days till it did arrive.
If there is initial VR support straight out of the box with DX11, then I am happy.

I am curious how all the vr waiting users go about using their keyboard for pitstop strategy changes or operations or mapped button use if using a button box?

Voice Attack is the best option but i still use my keyboard. It's tricky but achievable, amazing what muscle memory can do.

Use buttons on the wheel like I do in Raceroom, a bit fiddly but once you get the hang of it it's easy.

zero problems, any buttons I use I pretty much press without looking anyhow, lots of buttons on my steering wheel that I remember

as I do when I'm driving in real life

Haha totally forgot about the buttons on my wheel, yeah I use those too!

Using everything even with a headset on really isn't as much trouble as people would think.

After some time in VR, I don't even think about finding buttons / controls; it becomes second nature pretty quickly.

The bigger problem is when you're so immersed that you reach for things that aren't there - sun-glasses, armrests, door levers, etc. :D

I understand the want to get both VR and DX11 out, but from the point of view of some-one who has dealt with trouble-shooting, it would make sense to put these two large updates out separately.
I don't want to fight two battles with users who can't get their Samsung VR goggles to work with rF2 while at the same time dealing with folks who just cannot take the tiny extra bit of shimmer in the clouds... Both of these programs are fraught with possible unfound bugs. Get one working for the majority and then release the 2nd. It would be so much less stressful for the devs.

I don't know about that . . . , a lack of VR can be pretty stressful too! :D You're not wrong though.

As far as I understood from the roadmap updates, VR is not due to be released in Q1, only DX11 engine migration.

With DX11 implementation complete, we are now in our first development stage for VR. Our initial focus is the in-car driver experience with both the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive.

Yes, that can be taken both ways. DX11 is def finished and ready, VR being worked on. Place your bets!

    One things for sure.

The update itself won't be today or this weekend. I'm off work and not rostered on shifts so no chance of getting it.

They only ever release content or updates while I'm at work so I can't go play with them.

I've decided this is deliberate :p
