Hi guys...have an issue with black grass again.... What is confusing is that I have both Lakeside and QR opened in two instances of Max 2010. I can change the vertices to my hearts content in Lakeside and all is good. Difference grasses/dirt where ever I want. Both settings are the same as far as I can make out.... But...in QR, black grass no matter what I do... So I will use the old grass shader and work it out later. I have no idea how many hours I have lost due to something quite simple I hope. I will ask for help if someone can find time to do so... The good news is that I am now to the point where I will be updating the sponsors and getting a Beta version out for people to test and go from there.
I wouldnt know how to get any colour grass into a game so your doing a great job ,lol I hope someone can help you . A bottle of Jack or Beam sitting next to your screens would fit in better around Lakeside .lol not a glass of White .
No, will run a simpler shader. There must be an issue with the mesh. Have wasted more than 10 hours trying to get it to work. If I create a new plane and export that it works perfectly, but no way the mesh I have will work. I think I need someone to look at it and see what is wrong.
More progress with the mesh..... I think there are issues with the mesh I have, and they are pretty hard to fix....so....enter Populate Terrain..... I know some of you may not like this idea but it works and it is also infinitely adjustable with polys size etc. Anyway, it works with the new shader and I can modify to my heart's content. So, hopefully this will be done in the next week and I can start to apply and blend many grass textures....
Woo Hoo! Just did a test of the spline mapping for the grass textures. Very happy, look like the real thing, but too green. Need to back off the saturation a tad. Looking forward to tomorrow. Big day
You may want to scale down grass mapping little bit. Grass blades are looking pretty big. Good work so far!
Getting there, lots of issues with the mesh but now getting it to work the way I want. Have to spline map the gravel but it looks pretty good. More shots this arvo.....
Finally got the terrain / grass pretty well where I want it and will adjust colours later...too green at the moment. Stripes are started on the road and the next area will be the pit lane stripes and all the sponsors and walls...then release as a Beta...
Looking good ! Quick questions , Will there be multiple layouts ? Will there be realroad for racing line and rubber build up?
Thanks for your efforts, Mike. Am always excited for/with the modder when all the fussy problems start to be solved. Kinda like getting closer to your destination when you're a kid going on holidays ;-) Looking forward to driving your Queensland and it's layouts.
Here are some real photos of the track, with the pit lane the next project. The wall also as they have lots of sponsor logo to do as well. I am guessing a week or so to get that done...
Yes, nice progress. If I may suggest one thing. You could loft non-collideable transition decal on track asphalt/grass edges. That would make track edges more natural. Btw, is that tirewall smoothing groups properly collapsed? To me it looks like it has slight smoothing issue.
