I saw this in the rFactor 2 description: Dynamically laid rubber increases grip throughout racing session(s) Rubber chunks (“marbles”) roll off tyres and can affect grip 1. Does the marbled line end up where most people drive (calculated median where marbled line end up) or will it always be the best line that emerge? 2. About the "rubber chunks", is that just physics side or is it visible to the eye? I never seen rubber bits in corners after many laps so im just curious how this works. Maybe that there is even less grip outside the marbled line on the side where cars put their weight on?
Rubber goes where people drive. Drive some random line a lot and you'll see it. Marbles can be seen on the track, but I don't really know if they affect grip.
You can usually see the marbled area on the edge of the rubbered line around a corner, but I'm pretty sure they aren't actual 3D marbles.
yes marbles do affect the grip...the more marbles the more slippery. The marbles are a texture that shows but does change grip levels

If you want to make some easy experiment, increase the real road multiplier to the max, in this way you will see the track change almost lap by lap, both in grip and visually.
Yep, but depending on the used language, could be not that easy to find it, because of (partially) wrong translation. Therefore i mentioned the player.json. In german it`s "Feineinstellung Sonneneffekte", wich is complete wrong and missleading.
That does not affect the marbles, this affects the dust effects when running wide on the sand / gras.
Did you had a look on my posted pic`s? One is done with "Soft Particles":0 and the second with "Soft Particles":2.
The marble effect is just a shader, it's not a game engine particle, so no way soft particles setting can affect that. Marbles can look different on different tracks depending on what texture that track maker decided to use. 1. Not totally sure on how it's calculated, but I think it's dynamic and based where most people drive. 2. Marbles have less grip, in the mod is defined how realroad (rubber+marbles) affect each car.
I don't see any realroad in your first picture, perhaps the realroad is not saturated? Either way, marbles are part of the realroad shader so they should look same on all graphics settings, otherwise it would be a disadvantage for users who run lower settings if they can't see part of the realroad.
I can see the spots now (rubber chunks). Maybe they were there without soft particles activated, but at least i see them now which is what i wondered. I knew of course it has less grip among the chunks and debris, but i wondered why i couldnt see them. Hopefully in the future with DX11 the dev's can make the chunks in 3D. Not talking about animated ones, but like the simple black triangles that you can see in P.Ricard mod track for Assetto Corsa. They could emerge slowly as you go around. Since they have no real texture (mat only i think) and is 3 or 4 faces max i think they dont take up much performance at all, but you would see them better than a texture. Could be an idea.
