Yes & no. To give you a real world example, LilSki's Bridgehampton for AC was made with topo maps having 5' elevation contours & absolute heights at corners. While the whole track can't be scanned, there is aerial lidar available for the remaining strip of pavement going under the bridge down through T1. So we compared the two profiles and he was pretty accurate for his sources & method, yet that meant there were 6" differences. 6" is enough to make a noticeable difference in suspension reactions if the track is well-known. And many of the non-scanned tracks have noticeably larger errors. pCARS non-scanned Cadwell Park compared to the AMS scanned version? You can *see* the differences in pavement profiles! There's also a Brands Hatch out there with ludicrously steep hills, so bad the rF2 Clio has troubles going uphill. Me? I'm not spoiled because I don't have an iRacing subscription, but as laser scanned tracks trickle down to us plebes, they will become the preferred tracks. That's why I try to spread the word about free public lidar data to anyone interested in making tracks.

Did Southshore ever get done? It is a nice track, good for faster cars. AI has no defensive lines unfortunately.
@GertjanD i think its very old track still but it was so cool back then at 2015 https://www.internationalsimracing.com/forum/index.php?topic=3491.0
And some of the old tracks removed from the steam workshop can be found here: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/9a5scz539nyj1/Tracks_(Public_track)
If you are a good enough driver, you can do your own AIW... The guys on the AIW thread could use some help. I can't help because I can't drive jacksh!t There is a pretty good tutorial by Mark Pearce ("TopSecret" here) on YouTube.
I have "outsourced" Southshore, because I simply have no time to work on it right now. Friend of mine is building the track from scratch with the latest track tech. Hopefully he can release it soon.
