Hey Tim, hey staff, can we expect some sort of news regarding rf2's development direction for 2016? What's in the bag? Would be really appreciated. Cheers!
Yeah would be nice. Reiza showed AMS, next sim in 2017. AC showed their plans for 2016 R3E had a interview with some info for the future (in RD) ISI? Nothing yet =/
Whereas 2014 was more or less housecleaning year, 2015 experimentation year with some big changes like tonemapper (was tweaked few times from build to build if i remember correctly) and CPM (evolving even as we speak now)... 2016 I have a feeling will be a year of actually making the changes that avarage and hardcore user was wishing for. Maybe new UI by the end of the year? Some new systems implemented like more advanced motec huds and electronic aids implemented per car and sth like ERS? Some gfx features? New sound sets for curbs etc? Drivetrain? I just get this feeling that this year will be less hit and miss and more throwing punch after punch with each build doing sth significant.
Exactly --------------- As nice as rieza dirt may be wont replace ISI R3E no mods is there in that, even pCars has mods. p I not interested in playing eye candy musical chairs with previews. I not really interested in what content comes for rF2 , que sera sera. Waited patiently 4 years for Historic bugs to be fixed, few more won't hurt. Tim is not really one to announce stuff "announced". When he does you will know about it. If you want me to sit here and badger him about where the Historics mentioned years ago are you are flogging a dead horse. Lastly I would say to you look at his Avatar and spare a thought to what made him that way. lol p
This is what I think of new moddable sims RoadMap Kunos and SMS will largely rest on their laurels and will hand me up another sim with eye candy, so-so physics and feel and lots of DLC. ISI will develop and refine its system even further and just push physics to another new level. Why what do you think will happen.
My prediction is it will be mainly bugfixes and new content from now on. Although in 2015 there were big feature improvements (UI, HDR, CPM, rules plugin, Steam release). But realistically rF2 is now a mature product and there hasn't been any mention of new features since stock car release. To keep up with the "serious sim" competition (iRacing, Reiza), sooner or later a new game or game engine is IMO necessary (and VR support which would probably be bundled with a new graphics engine).
+1 but If I try to have a semi intellegent hypothetical talk about you would like to see from ISI in the 21st century you get tarred and feather. lol and get accused of giving up on rfactor2. lmao But there you have it, you mention VR. Yes what in a new engine would you like most improved. Would it be Lighting or Weather or would it be dynamic weather effects. Or would you rather a decent clutch and grinding tranny above all. Where is the harm in talking about that !
First up, I think my thread title should have been better with a question mark... Can't change it, so imagine there is one. Secondly, I was not asking for the hole anouncement regarding rf2 development. I was asking, if we might get something like that this year. If there is a possibility for that. So the thread direction should stay this way. Basically you all are off-topic right away. Hehe. Apart from Durges sentence regarding Tim being not an announcer of stuff. So we could keep on talking on Tim and if u will, all the other guys from the staff, or we maybe simply wait for an answere from them. Take care guys!
I know what you meant and I am not going to say I do not agree with you. But that is beside the point. Best idea is probably read Tim's tweets if you that way inclined. I think rF2 has reached it's cycle and should concentrate on finishing content and strengthening the system.
Well usually Tim gives away such stuff in interviews for SimHQ and stuff. And I would like to know if there is something planed like this in the near future.
Far from finished. Still lack some really fundamental bits. Rain. Drivetrain. Energy Recovery Systems, including proper AWD (with with on-fly adjustments) differentials. I hope at least rain will be covered or vastly improved in 2016. Rest? One can only guess but I've learnt not to hold my breath For the first time, in a long, long time, I've been slightly jealous on iRacers when I saw the MP4-30's ERS implementation.
There is an interview in the latest Sim Racer Magazine. Any subscriber's here? http://simracer-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/001-SIMRacer09-Cover.jpg
They should just release rF3 already or do what Reiza is doing with SCE/AMS. A good excuse to move on, simplify some things to try to get part of the community back (esp the moders) what will break all the mods out there and so on.
Again with this RF3 ... ? How do you think there will be a RF3 ? Actually, Tim explained a good reason to not have a RF3 title, at least in a short time (years?): licensing is related to the product, so changing 2 in 3 will be a great fuss. and money expense. ISI can completely change the graphic and / or physic engine, while leaving the software name unchanged. Just a new build like many other. Other than this, RF2 is continuosly updated, and already you want some new toy to play? On the other hand, why you would want to pay for a numerical change (new product) when they can update this for 10 years if they wish?
No need 500 cars. But yeah I want a "new toy" or a more deep update, whatever you prefer to call it does't matter to me
Wondering if this statement reflects the current rF2 state http://pretendracecars.net/our-sim-racing-buyers-guide/
