I'm sure that nobody is going to understand something if doesn't want to understand it.
If some people doesn't understand the difference between share content from a web (or Dropbox, Mega, etc), and share it in an official channel (isiforums, rF2 remote content and Steam Workshop), we are not going to convince them.
At least, all of us agree on one thing. Nobody can upload content of other modders if they say that don't want.
Then, we say to all of you.
We don't want anybody to upload the racerfactor content to any official chanel.
    • Isiforums
    • rF2 remote content
    • Steam Workshop

We'll do it, if (or when) we consider.
Thank you, and enjoy it (if you can find it, of course). :p

Maybe you should recieve a few lessons..?

    I like the charity-Woodee...

I don't like the unenlightened Woodee... Who in one topic defends modders and insinuatingly shuns modder B who takes something and improves it, fixes bugs when modder A has dissapeared from the face of the earth.
Then the next week promotes track(s) with doubtful origin, not knowing anything about the origin of said track(s).

The drivingitalia vs. Steam issue should be obvious. If you had any idea where some tracks (or cars for that matter) originates from.
The "Steam is an official platform" point is quite valid, since Valve doesn't want doubtful content on their servers... Same with this forum. The RacerFactor tracks are not on this forum, they shouldn't be on Steam for the same reason.

When a modder asks for stuff to be taken out of the Steam Workshop, there is reason for it. In this case, you could put two and two together and figure it out before telling anyone to "chill" or "grow up".

I get that if they asked then it should be taken down, that is a given.

Oh I'm learning all the time, still much to learn when time and energy permits.

Don't think I've defended tracks of dubious origin, sometimes it's hard to tell where things come from. Many people don't put any author down when packing the mod which is frustrating.

The modder a and b issue was quite clear, the user was told by isi not to update it (unencrypt and repack) when it was obvious the author didn't want his intellectual property messed with.

    Was that not clear?

No, it wasn`t. ISI doesn`t told modder b anything, just deleted the thread (on request of a forums user). Wonder who this was...

    There you go...

Woodee, I am naturally talking about the 75 Silverstone...

And if you want to know more, you can always PM me xD Nah just kidding...

But for starters... The Donington and Oultron Park are of dubious origin for example... In the NGTC-thing you're hosting soon... And the links are there on this holy forum :) I know one of those tracks are on Steam Workshop... but that's up to the user to decide... Run the risk or not.

The problem is not only the origin. The noise is very important.

I would imagine 32_pixels asked that his mod not be interfered with.

I wouldn't know even where to start tracing origins of things now... just not worth the extra effort. Still a nice job that they are around. I will always applaud classic content... i'm not experienced to spot what game it would come from, as I don't own them :)

and our NGTC "thing", my charity race for a friend that died last month went well thanks.

Well...i contacted him (several times) on:

    - this forum
    - on facebook
    - on the hosters forum, where he hosted his files

and on some other forums as well

and got never an answer or a simple peep. Then he jumps in here and contact the administrator to remove my thread?

    Use your noggin, too...

Also, the Lester update wasn't taken down, but Celica was.

I don't know if it's a mod problem, RF2 problem, or Steam Workshop problem but when Apex Modding's GT3 mod's update (v0.928 to v0.930) auto- downloaded/installed from Steam Workshop, it didn't actually update, what it did was simply install a completely seperate copy of the mod. I therefore now have two cars for every car # - a v0.928 version and a v0.930 version...

Afaik Yoss deleted the old version instead of update them...You should uninstall the old version with the ModManager.

As he said in the Apex GT3 thread, Yoss was still learning the Steam thing and goofed. He also explained how to undo the side effects. I'm sure it will go better next update :)

    ***
This also brings up a point about Steam Workshop: communication. Spinelli obviously was subscribed to the material and Steam Workshop dutifully obeyed everybody's settings (Yoss on the content-supply and Spinelli on the customer end). Spinelli only knew it didn't go well because he wasn't following the GT3 thread, pops into the GT3 thread (& here) to post his experience after Yoss had already explained in the GT3 thread.

So... what sort of protocol will work best? I don't really see any easy way for Steam Workshop subscribers to find answers before a Workshop item causes them grief.
