update v0.75: I fixed a bunch of things previously frustrated me. This is not a visual update but a "core" update. You may notice a few differences while driving. 1. 0.7 had a bug - the graveltraps didn't have grip, now they have 2. increased the mesh density in most of the corners so now they look less angular 3. a bunch of ripplestrips were not driveable (this is an object attribute) in v0.7 which means your car just hover over above them without any effect on the car/tires. Now this is fixed, watch out in T3... 4. I eliminated 3 bumps on the track, in T10a (which is smoother now) and after T10b next to the ripplestrips and one after T11 5. also I eliminated a pot hole in the esses 6. fixed a lot of terrain poligons which were not connected together so there were a hole (still not all of them) 7. the black road (new asphalt) has new rFactor material "asph" which means it has more grip than the rest of the track. This affects the inside of T1 and T10a and T10b 8. the run-off in T5 is smoother than it was before but not by much http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/atlantic-road.8022/ https://www.dropbox.com/s/uos28g924339ony/atlanticroad_v0.75.rfcmp?dl=0 http://www.mediafire.com/download/bfthrpyarbafzm0/atlanticroad_v0.75.rfcmp --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- original message: Hi guys! I don't know what do you think but I really like Road Atlanta. And as it happens I have a scratch-made Road Atlanta for rF1. I made this (alongside Mosport) because I couldn't find an accurate version, after iRacing I felt the need for accuracy. Now, I left this project in a half (or two-thirds)-ready state earlier because of time and of course because Mario Morais is working on Road Atlanta based on LIDAR data. However in his thread he told us that he won't work on the track until January and after that who knows how much time has to pass until he finishes. So I thought I'm gonna convert my track to rF2 for my usage and of course I'm gonna share it so we can have some fun until the real deal arrives. Things you should know: - it has a lots of problems you probably won't notice during driving but if you go off the track you can see them here and there (terrain problems, side roads are not properly connected to the main road etc.) - it's missing a lot of visual-enhancements (grass-road transition texture, ugly graveltrap etc.) - the AI is not really fast, I can't drive the Skip (I think T5 is the problem in the fastline) - the convert was a 2 day project, most of which was spent on tree-planting. I won't spend more time on this because I don't want to "compete" with a LIDAR track nor anyone else because I don't have time for this. If I do something on the track that's gonna be new buildings because Sketchup is fun (but texturing is not) - I know that there is a Road Atlanta out there which is also an rF1 convert. When I tried that it didn't have realroad and it looked inaccurate. I made this track trying to copy the iRacing version in a way that the _feeling_ is the same. Feel free to compare to real life driving videos - the altitude datas are pretty good but - there are some bumps on the track I couldn't get rid of (BTB) - if I would have to give this a version number I would say it's around 0.7. Despite these flaws I love to drive this track, it's my favourite with Mosport so try it and if you enjoy it drive it more... So here is a video about Atlantic Road, I'm gonna share it tomorrow:
I'd say if it belongs here, it also belongs on Steam. But of course that's for you to decide. The track is great BTW, very nice job so far.
I would be much happier and willing to work on the track if I could remove the bumps from T1 and T12 and remove the pothole from T4. I can't do that with BTB. In fact BTB is the reason for those bumps/pothole. At the beginning I spent 2 days with one bump in T5 and I managed to smooth it out but it's painful in BTB. There are some on Mosport too (T1, T2, T4) just less noticable and also you can feel/see the BTB splines on the long straight.
Thank you for releasing this circuit! One of my faves. One issue, The sand traps are like ice. Actually more like greased ice. I've driven on frozen ponds that have more traction
