It only happens with the RMT Meganes (as far as I know) and only at a few tracks. The painted lines on the track are invisible from cockpit first-person view, but visible from every other camera, including other in-car cams. Why???

it's very strange because I can't find ANY other texture that disappears in cockpit, only painted lines.

RMT Meganes were released 2 or 3 years ago already and they never got an update since as far as i remember. So i think its a problem with the RMT mod.

Please specify track, I'll try to confirm your finding.

    Cheers.

It's Macau in the picture. If you don't have it, it's here:

    In the notes section.

It happens on some other tracks too, but I can't remember which at the moment.

EDIT: It happens at ISI Silverstone too. Again, everything is visible except the white painted lines, and again only in first person view. They even show up in the rear-view, but not out the windshield.

    I'm puzzled...

I don't doubt it's a problem with the mod. I just find it very bizarre lol. I can't for the life of me imagine what would cause THAT. How are the painted lines different from any other rendered texture? Maybe some wierd LOD or drawing distance issue the mod causes? IDK

When it happened with the Megane and not with the other car on your pic, how could it not be a MOD issue?

First of all, it's the same car in both pics, just different views. Second of all:

It's alpha sorting issue. Cars should use offset higher than 5 to make sure windshield doesn't interfere with track objects drawing. From track tech document:

That would explain it. I will see if I can fix it for personal use I guess, should be able to figure it out, but I won't post it anywhere without permission. Thanks.

Makes me wonder how they missed this! Surely they tested the mod on a few ISI tracks at least.

Why is this possible in the first place? Why does a type of windshield shading or whatever affect whether other completely separate objects/textures are rendered/visible in the first place? Why isn't there a global consistency to these type of things?

Consistency is there since you are respecting standards.

I fixed it. Alpha offset for the windshield material was set to 0. I set it to 5 and it works perfect now. I currently have it packaged as v1.11, but I don't know how to go about contacting them for permission to share it, since they haven't done anything in about a year now. Anyone know?
