Silverstone isn't a good reference. Not much point comparing very flat laser scanned track to a hand made.
I found this rather sad. I'm not sure I really agree but there is some truth in it. Thankfully the Goodwood Revival is live on TV and there at least there are some drivers racing their opponents.
Rain on windscreen and smoke that actually flows over the car and not through the cockpit, That would be on my list before some of the comments above.
The modification and addition to the engine to include the feature first...mathematically. Get that correct...THEN...the cosmetics/visual cues. All abt proper pipeline workflow and priorities. I think its not abt making things look good with it having little effects on the sim. This is a race sim. Wuts next, female driver hairs blew with the wind on the convertible AC??
Oh ok, thanks. Hope they can give it a good evolution I remember watching this back in the day xD wonder why they abandoned it Man.. time flies
IMHO the clip shows how cosmetics are entirely possible anytime (even pre-beta time) and other games that time already proved that it was possible. Its all abt what u stand for and what u do will show others wut you really are. How many games nowadays have trailing water on the screen? - almost all of them. How many of them are simulation? - none Also shows the priority of getting the core right instead jumping on the cosmetics part, publishing screenies of the updates, get increase in sales and release an update base on complaints. Akin to building a perfect engine, then...and only u build shiny chrome by
Agree with this. I'd drive rF1 or 2 graphics all my life as long as the simulation is nice. Tho there are stuff I'd like to have now in rF2 or any sim, like 3d animations (visible from every car in online races), would give a nice touch. I just hate empty pit lanes you know the possibility of having real life events happening, not only the driving part. Ok we don't need blood and this stuff xD
Proper rain tires have only been in the cars since the BT20 was updated (and everything since). Bit silly to build a penthouse before the foundations.
Why do you think they have abandoned it? Because I haven't heard them say anything about this. Don't assume it has not been worked on because you don't see anything public. I imagine a lot happens behind closed doors without us even knowing.
I have no doubt the features will come eventually, its just now everything like graphics and tracks look so natural, everything has improved, yet when we spin we get this smoke inside the cockpit, its not nice and looks bad on videos. I could be wrong here, but didn't the C6r have working wipers in previous builds, but the recent release seems to have ditched them ?
A lot of concept stuff gets dumped in every game development process where you're breaking new ground on an engine. That specific tech was broken about 10 times with subsequent internal builds and fixed again. Eventually they stopped fixing it because they were wasting their time, and as I said above, rain tires come first. But I think we're at a point where this effect needs to be redone/fixed, yes.
