I have a i5 2500, 8gb ram, 970gtx, i can't play rfactor 2. I have everything almost maxed out, SINGLE monitor 1080p, antialiasing level 4, and the game dont' reach 60 fps, in brianza 2.0 i can't reach 60fps even with a single car without ai... in Atlanta i can't reach 60fps with 2 cars... The performance are absolutely bad... Even if i use lower setting, lower shadows, lower refleciton, the game shutter a lot with other cars.. Pcar with 10 cars almost maxed out give me constant 60 fps. Assetto Corsa with 20 cars almost maxed out give me constant 60 fps. Rfactor2 with 1 car almost maxed out shutter like crazy and graphically it's far behind. In the forum some saying it's a pci express 2.0 problem, it is possible? Anyway, please improve performance.
I have 970 and at 1440p (now), almost all maxed, i tested the other day and my system was quite happily achieving over 60fps average. So you should be able to get around at least 90 fps at 1080p (based on my observations of ~30% fps drop going from 1080p to 1440p in games). Using PCi-e 2.0 x16 vs 3.0 x16 in rf2 will result in a 15-20% reduction in average fps on a gtx 970 if i recall correctly. Whilst i haven't tested Atlanta, I think i've seen some people comment on performance issues with that track. Can you confirm the same is true with any other track? Can you provide more details please? E.g. Do you have any performance issues in other games/benchmarks? If so, how differently is it performing compared to others with a 970 as well? etc.
I have problem on the updated tracks, amps, indianapolis, brianza 2.0, lime rock park 2.0, portugal, obliviously i don't have problem on sardians.... And using the most demanding cars, with cobra on brinza 2.0 with 4 ai cars i get 28 fps on start grid...
hmm...can you confirm unexpected performance from your 970 exists only with rf2 or also with other games? I'm trying to ascertain whether the performance issue is limited to rf2 or not first. Because if it's not....knowing now will save a lot of time and head-ache. lol.
If you don't have something else to test on, might i suggest testing with Heaven 4.0 benchmark. It's free. Download link: https://unigine.com/d/Unigine_Heaven-4.0.exe Then copy this guys settings and compare your fps score/performance with his.
If you're not on PCI-E 3.0, then big performance hit in rF2. Some motherboards with PCI-E 3.0 default to 2.0 and you have to force 3.0 in the BIOS. The GPU-Z utility can help you check the PCI-E setting. For what it's worth, my 970GTX is driving triple screens AA level 3 and achieving 60+ fps. Multiview triple screens I have to lower AA to level 2.
It's only a rfactor 2 problem, all other game are fine, moder games, pcars, assetto, dirt rally runs beatifully almost maxed out, old games like gcs runs in dsr 4k without problem...
My motherboard support only pci-e 2.0 and i can confirm it's set to 16x. Can you put your pci to 3.0 8x or 2.0 16x and see how it impact performance??
Nvidia has huge problems with memory leak etc. Every driver past 353.30 gives image scaling problems in rFactor2. You can rad about it here: https://forums.geforce.com/default/board/33/geforce-drivers/ . Roll back you driver to 353.30 and you are fine.
Already been tested thoroughly http://isiforums.net/f/showthread.p...rf2-using-PCI-e-3-0-x16-with-higher-end-cards!
I'm using the very latested 355.82 drivers and just tested rf2 at silverstone (sunny weather) with 20 AI Formula 3.5 cars, starting at back of the grid and fps was 72. Let the AI drive and it was silky smooth performance all around. This is at 2560x1440 as well, so probs ~110 fps for 1920x1080. Emery, running pci-e 2.0 x16 seems unlikely to be cause of his performance issue. At most he should experience a 12% fps drop vs those running their 970 at pci-e 3.0 x16 in rf2. By that account, he should be seeing ~97fps with my test scenario at silverstone.
In that thread they speak about 10%-20% performance difference, not 100%-200%, i can't reach 30fps with 4 car in 1080p, other people go over 60fps in 1440p
Alex, can you run the following settings and see report back your fps when at the start on the grid at silverstone please. Ofc, use the correct resolution for you. We can account for it after. My fps at start of race at the back of the grid:
Another thing, just be sure it's not the PCI-e issue, can you download GPUZ and check with it that the card is indeed running at pci-e 2.0 x16 and not something lower. If it's even lower, could actually explain the observed effect in rf2. Download page: http://www.guru3d.com/files-get/gpu-z-download-techpowerup,13.html then when you open it, click the little question mark symbol and report back what the box to the left of it says in its entirety please. edit: i just realised my recorded fps above is probably less than it should be. I currently have a second gpu installed for dedicated phsyx which has lowered my 970 to running at pci-e 3.0 x8 mode (i.e. same as pci-e 2.0 x16). So i should actually be getting ~80 fps at 1440p and ~104 fps in 1080p.
Thanks for the help. Silverstone it's one of the most light circuit, enyway i'll do the test right now, can you put your resolution to 1080? And make a test on brianza 2.0 or amp with cobra?
fyi, i just realised my recorded fps above is probably less than it should be. I currently have a second gpu installed for dedicated phsyx which has limited my 970 to running at pci-e 3.0 x8 mode (i.e. same as pci-e 2.0 x16). So i should actually be getting ~80 fps at 1440p and ~104 fps in 1080p with pci-e 3.0 x16 mode. I just realised this when i ran the gpuz software myself and noticed it reporting "PCI-E 3.0 x16 @x8 3.0" after clicking the ? symbol and "start render test".
No probs. I don't have all the mods installed i'm afraid. But not necessary anyway. If the problem does not also occur with the silverstone track, however odd that may be, it will still tell us something useful.
ok. That's about 55% less than what i would expect you should be able to achieve. I'll quickly test 1080p. Have you ran gpuz test yet to see what pci-e mode is being reported at load? edit: ok, so it was 86 fps at 1080p, only 18% higher than when running at 1440p. I thought it would be 30% higher based on my other experiences. Perhaps it's just not the case with rf2 or the pci-e 3.0 x8 mode is at play here. I'll have to remove the 2nd gpu and let you know in a few minutes.
Something it's really wrong, Nvidia Inspector say PCIe Interface 3.0@1.1 x8 I don't understand wha't happening with my pc, i was really sure of the 2.0 16x... I re-download gpu-z for a double check
