Hi, I have had an occasional issue that occurs in single and multiplayer races. The competitor cars when I get near them (the nearer I am the worse it is) seems to suffer from a lag-like issue. They stutter and appear to move back and forwards in a blur that can make them about 3 times their normal length. It's usually accompanied by a feeling of loss of rear grip in my car (like the rear wing has about halved in down-force). When I look at a replay my car seems to be having micro freezes. I don't think its lag because it can happen in single player? Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks

OK gents, to update the issue. Its still an issue. and Yes its the CPU overloading. The purple bar goes all the way across when this happens. I did a complete fresh lite install 8 days ago. (Build 982 for FSR). I use a minimum of content in this install. My CPU is AMD 6 Core 3.3 Ghz 7gb GPU is AMD Twin Frozr R7850 1738 MB. In single player with even only 10 AI I get these same blurry cars that move back and fwds. In Multiplayer when at his speed sections of the track and near another car I get mini freezes. It feels like the car has got light (no DF) but on a replay its stopping for a moment. My car freezes but the clock keeps ticking. So 1) any more ideas on a fix? 2) If I have to update my CPU should I focus my priorities on? (# of cores or clock speed or ram) Thanks
I wonder if the "max pre-rendered frame = 1" fix for nvidia users also work for amd users (with the equivalent setting)? I'll try to find the picture of it's effect in rf2 i posted a year or so ago. edit: here it is... If there is an equivalent setting for AMD, it may or may not help you.
You were on the money, thanks. my reply on the other thread about this... OK update. It looks like the suggestion from unknown to activate multithreading was the key. Did that and I have just been running with 25 AI at top speed and smooth as silk. Big relief. Thanks to all. (Ill be reading the known issues and read me's a bit closer from here on I guess)
OK, this partially solved my problem, i.e. it is possble for me now to race without lag and going out of real time. BUT the CPU bar is still very high, more than 80/90%. The difference is that all the physics frames are calculated before the graphic frames. And still I have two cores practically idle and a third at less than 30%.
rF2 works with two main threads; some physics calculations get divided between remaining cores if you specify the "Sim Processor Threshold" JSON parameter to "3". You told you have AMD CPU, they are often less powerful than Intels, so you likely need a better CPU if changing the parameter didn't help.
You going to get told lots of things you need. imho if you run single screen all you need is a stock Intel i5-6600@3.9GHz, H170 Gaming 3, 8GB 2133 DDR4 ram and a 1/2 decent cooler. That is $400 US , add a GTX970 for $300 US you got a budget humdinger will run anything.
I have I7-3820 3.6 16 gig ddr3 with good psu and cooling and still get the stutter. Best result so far is when i turned off intel speed step. 3 or 255 in the multi thread no difference. Hyperthreading off in BIOS no difference. Problem happened for me with build 1008.was no issue before this build. cpu and gpu temps all under 60 deg all the time.
Does anyone know if adding RAM would help with this issue at all? I don't have any problems unless I start adding upwards of 30 AI drivers, and only in certain mods that are more taxing. My CPU is fairly old (first gen Core-i7 940 at 2.93GHZ) but I've also only got 4gb of RAM. If I want to upgrade the CPU I'm going to need a new MOBO as well, so it's going to be somewhat expensive. Whereas I could buy 12GB of RAM for like $100 and throw it in right away, so just wondering if its actually worthwhile or if I'd be wasting my money. EDIT: I actually have 6GB, forgot I upgraded a while back. But Process Lasso says that 40-45% is being used even when no applications are running other than background processes
Maybe, but the strange think is that last time I've checked before last build, my CPU was strong enough to run rF2 at 40% CPU occupancy with zero physic thread latency, now it needs more than 90% and occasionally lags?
