I also started at 15 and quit 6 years ago when I was 35. I tried quitting numerous times by weening myself off slowly and never worked so I finally just decided to quit for real. I had 3/4 of a pack left and smoked the rest of them and just never bought anymore. Watching my father die of small cell lung cancer from smoking for 40 years sure helped to wake me up.
Awesome for all you guys. That has to really be a tough addiction to break. I look back to my early years and first encounter with cigarettes and am so glad I didn't pick it up. (The taste was SO horrible!!) (Thank goodness pot wasn't physically addictive!! )

Been smoking for 50 years. As for quitting, what's the point now? Other than to save a small fortune.
Do you still enjoy it Carlo? 35 years for me, same as you, why even bother. but for me the criteria is whether I still enjoy it. if it becomes a much-have anywhere-anytime I probably quit. And its only a small fortune if you actually put it aside, which not many quitters do @Eddy, did you go see them in the ziggodome last year?
As weird as this sounds, I began smoking heavily as a result of throat cancer (not caused by smoking). Menthol cigs dulled the pain. Unfortunately, I still enjoy smoking. Now that the USA is becoming a nanny country, it's becoming more difficult to do so. It's even illegal to smoke in pubs and many outdoor public places (parks, beaches, etc). When I was young and in school, we used to smoke in the classroom.
hmm My father is 90 now. He started at 15 too like me, so he is smoking for 75 years. All is good, except smoking gradually diminished his appetite, he didnt feed properly, he was out of vitamins soon and he got into mental problems as his brain gradually started having more and more dead areas. Nope. Never have seen them live. You could call me a album freak...hehe. About the smoking jibber jabber. .....i started when i was 13. Stopped when I was 24 but when i was 29 i started again (long story ) and now being 50 i still do. Is it good for me.......no. do i like it.....yes.
Man, you guys sure are young in your mind! Wished you could see the benefits with quitting like health wise and all other positive aspects. But I guess it's very hard to quit when you're so into it.
