GTX 680 4gb running 3 screens and reachin 99º (but not throttling)

    Just played sometime now, hit 98° again but no stuttering or fps loss.
    I will let this way. I´m tired of this :p

    I don´t if its good or bad but finally found someone on the internet with the same problem and discover why sometimes i have problems and why sometimes not (not referring to gpu temps)

    I just reproduce the problem now and the card throttled!

    Turned on the pc and right way go to rf2. Just from the beggining have massive stuttering and fps drop. Exit from rf2 and take a look at hardware monitoring file, which shows me gpu power getting spikes of 333% and gpu underclock to 324 mhz (there is another columns but i only these for better format):

    You appear to be pushing that card and its throttling on the power limit as expected. Either raise the power limit (which won't help your temps) or lower some settings.

    Thanks MJp but it isn´t that. Every one who reported this problem (gpu power spikes - 333% or 275%) RMA the card and get a new one. The problem is i´m literally thousands of km away from where i bought the card. I don´t know yet how this RMA thing work to see if it is possible to change mine. Still under warranty. I have to see this on dead evga forum.
    and is this model especifically i think, gtx 680 4bg ftw le

    i don't think it matters where you bought the card. The warranty is with EVGA, not the place where you bought the card. Phone EVGA (or online), set up an RMA with them, and you should be good to go.

    I did a research and found a portuguese forum teaching how to. My only concern now is about i´ve flashing the bios and opened to change thermal paste but will make questions there. It is a lot easier to me.

    reflash to the original BIOS, shouldn't have a problem. With regards to the thermal paste, I'm not sure that voids the warranty. It may, but will they even know?

    Just to inform you guys that helped me a lot. I contacted EVGA and i was approved to RMA. Now will send my gfx to US, wait for an answer and probably get my gfx fixed.
    Thank you all again. Will update here in near future, i hope, with good news.

    lol Durge, all this discussion helped me a lot with support. At first contact i basically told everything we discuss in this thread. The support guy don´t even bother to ask anything more and told me to start RMA process

    I have avoided a lot of: unplug this...unplug that... restart you computer... now on safe mode... now with one hand... now with your eyes closed... and so on.

    Well if you took my advice 5 weeks ago ( 6 now lol ) you would have had it back.

    yeah, your idea sucks a lot. They denied my RMA due to "rust on PCB" and "liquid damage".
    But what they call "rust on PCB" is in fact "rust on low quality screws" and liquid damage i have no idea what it is.
    Now i´m without my gfx, rf2 and GSC are useless on my PC and i paid international shipping for that!

    ohh hell****ing**** i hate EVGA, it was to good to be true... i sense this coming. :(

    Oh damm, sorry man, actually never heard that one before (IF it is in the warranty period ) me personally, I would make a complaint straight to the ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission )

    They kick companies butts well and truly and have powers enacted by Government.
    You may not have a consumer commission most countries don't.

    I had a set of broken plastic pedals, Fanatec distributor would replace but they wanted me to pay freight both ways.

    So I complained to the ACCC, takes 20-30 minutes in a online form.

    What do you reckon the distributor did then ?
    Contacted me the very next day and apologized . lol
    Sent me a set of fully refurbished Clubsports pedals for nothing.

    all because they wouldn't pay freight.

    damm that isn't helpin' either, is it. :(

    Make a appointment if needed to speak with the head of consumer affairs.

    Not the Consumers office boy thinks he is a boss ....... the actual "Corporate" head for Consumer Affairs or similar department they name them all sorts of things now.

    I have rung Corsair and Gigabytes top heads, on both occasions the decision was reversed.

    But if it is in warranty and you truly believe you are right, do it, what can it hurt.

    I find that pretty hard to take mate.

    The first thing I would say is that the card always ran way too hot

    OBVIOUSLY you get liquid damage from the precipitation from which rust is produced, seen it before myself.

    It could be worsened with room humidity sure, but no one can prove that.

    Like stuff me ?



    Anyways state your case to the boss man, you are hurt and depressed being treated this way as a loyal EVGA customer.

    Your Simulation League mates can't believe what is happening, yadda , yadda

    Tell him how the card was always hot ( I mean it is not unknown ) and how this would explain the rust from precipitation.

    Above all be nice and apologetic.


    P.S.

    But never ever take some RMA broom boys word as final.
    Like court you start at local then go to district then high court then supreme.
    You don't settle for what the local court tells you, especially if it is going to cost you nothing, do you. ? ;)

    Look what they answered me about me telling about rusty low grade screws (which is only thing rusted and has nothing related to the issue. I even found a topic on EVGA forum with people complaining about gpu spikes as i notice here and surprises you and spinneli: http://forums.evga.com/GTX680-FTW-downclocking-Compiling-all-similar-cases-here-m1656657-p4.aspx ) :

    "Unfortunately an excessive amount of moisture in your environment can cause this and will happen regardless of metal and that does void the warranty. If you require further support, I would recommend...

    They can shove that gpu in their asses, i won´t cry for this ****. I´ve seen people on foruns saying to applying some kind of rust cleaning product before sending gpu to then. I didn´t did that because rusty screws has nothing to do with my issue and i would feel myself like trying to fake something to get advantage so i sent as my gpu was.
    And no logic about that since if this happen regardless of metal, all gpu would be rusted.

    Btw, it isn´t your fault. I was just kidding. Don´t get me wrong.

    I really appreciate your, Spinelli and other advices. When i can, i will by something from Asus or other brand
