New spreadsheet to 'automatically' create chassis files (with flexing), without opening pTool. http://rfactor.net/web/rf2/devscorner/suspension-spreadsheet-info/
Very interesting, although it looks a bit messy Something like this for the TGM files would be even more interesting, I'd say.
I believe this is the most important tool for rFactor 2's future success. There are many guys who can deal with 3d graphics models skillfully in our community. Compared to that, the number of physics guy is too small to have every car mod developed realistically in the aspect of physics. I think there are two reasons for this. Firstly learning vehicle dynamics is not easy especially for guy who has no engineering background. Secondly there aren't any proper free tool to analyze and/or develop suspension geometry for guy who has enough knowledge about vehicle dynamics. If the same guy work as chassis designer in the car industry he can use a very expensive tool like ADAMS/CAR. Of course you don't need ADAMS/CAR to create physics files of rFactor 2. But you need to develop personally some tool to analyze and/or develop suspension geometry. This is a troublesome task. Until a few years ago you could use Kangaloosh's carFactory to analyze without problem. But recently carFactory's analyzing feature (only) seems to have worked improperly. For the detail see this post. Same trouble can be seen in the comment area of carFactory page on rFactor Central. My friends and I abandoned carFactory because of the trouble. Anyway this ISI's suspension tool looks very promising. Especially if suspension geometry analyzing function like carFactory is implemented, this tool may atract (or bring back) guys having enough knowledge about vehicle dynamics to modding scene. Keep up the good work.
