I'd love to see these tracks with LIDAR data: Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course Road Atlanta Sonoma Raceway (Sears Point) Summit Point Motorsports Park
Note that not all resolutions are available for all sites. Wales, for instance, isn't yet surveyed at all, so no Pembrey.
It's the a good way to process this data which I'm struggling with Cloud Compare, QGis, SAS Planet.... etc
First pass, use LAStools to separate out the ground return. Mario's toolset for Max. Then there's always Bob's Trackbuilder, but you'll need to a little data massaging first.
If there are any tutorials then I'd love to try and follow them step by step, finding it harder to remember things nowadays.

Hi all, the uk data is not user friendly. the file format are asc grid ( a text file that store grid of elevation data) so don't have coordinates, only have one for all grid. Using cloud compare tool, can import files and generate a geotiff or generate points to save as las file. Is not easy task because each grid file stores 10km square Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
How many triangles is that? How large is the capture? and what resolution is it? (25cm, 50cm, 1m or 2m?)
the whole mesh is a whopping 6,368,426 faces, I have no Idea what the resolution is as I just downloaded the 156mb lidar scan of the area containing the track, looking at the mesh closely I certainly wouldn't want to try driving on it but it would certainly make getting elevations and cambers easier. You can see the resolution in this screen showing the final chicane, rear of the pits, control tower and a couple of parked planes.
Even by following tips here? http://assettocorsamods.net/threads/lidar-point-cloud-to-mesh-tutorial.422/
that's what I followed, it uses the laz files as I did, not had any luck with asc files and don't get a lot of spare time to mess with them. If you know how to use asc files or there is a simple guide to converting them I'd have a go.
