Hi guys, I'm just wondering whether or not we will get the visual effect of sparks added into the sim at some point, as per this thread: http://isiforums.net/f/showthread.php/6686-visual-effects-sparks-and-LED-light RF1 had them, and I haven't seen any news about it etc but any information would be great! Thanks
Theres something called 'spark flow' in the player plr file but changing the values does nothing? WIP maybe?
could've sworn I've seen sparks before (in an older build) but can't see anything in this one. Flow (smoke/spray/dust etc) over the vehicles used to work in an older Build before ISI updated the Special Effects area, now it doesn't work anymore no matter what settings I put in.
I think sparks during "bottoming out" is somewhat important, otherwise only indication of riding too low right now is seconds lost in a lap or getting the collision box of the car hits the collision box of track or curb. (which is really only noticeable when you spin out or abruptly stop) I remember the good ole days of watching GPL replays for sparks.
However 3rd party mods would really need to get it right. Otherwise we would end up with sparks on every corner and straight with max ride heights. I remember that being an issue in rF1 with some mods. Sparks... Sparks everywhere. From your front wing, diffuser, undertray. THEY ARE EVERYWHERE! xD However I would think that visible sparks would be very useful with Stock cars. Since to make it fast you need to bring the splitter down to get the best performance. You can use audio cues but if you don't have them, even subtle sparks can indicate overdoing the ride height. We will get them sooner or later I'm sure.
Yeah other than simply adding to the visual appeal, they are a great indicator for ride height. If memory serves GP4 had plank wear that you could check in the garage to make adjustments, but since we don't have that, sparks would do nicely!
+ Add a sound effect to go with the sparks! + Visualisation & animation of a blown & deflated tyre & sound effects to match
Forget sparks. Don't even encourage them to look at that. I hated them in RF1 as they were poorly done. The velocity and trajectory were completely wrong. I'd prefer ISI to spend their time doing something more meaningful.
Sparks coming from the underside of the old planks with beryllium would travel upward at a massive velocity on the real car. It looked like sparklers. In RF1 they tended to follow the boundary layer at a very slow speed. It was as if somebody threw a bag of sparks from front to rear. I absolutely hated the way it looked and always turned that feature off. That's not a dig at rf1 in any way. It might have seemed like a needed feature to some. I just found it unnecessary since It served no good purpose.
With sparks, we'll be able to drive F1 on the Nords by night I want sparks coming from the brakes too !
I don't care where the sparks go, I want to know if I'm bottoming out. Now, you don't get any indication of any kind. Maybe motec, but I don't use it, never took the trouble to set it up and probably won't. I thought this was a sim. So what's the use of setting ride height at lowest setting? You can of course tell from body sway if your too high, but never know for sure if you're too low. If you don't like the way they might do sparks, then do as suggested above "absolutely hated the way it looked and always turned that feature off"
After seeing you drive you don't need sparks, you need hyperspace effects like the millennium falcon ...
