There was change of ambient light which thankfully improved too dark shadows (build 860, build 880). Except for that the graphics didn't change really at all, so just placebo reports as usual.
Sad to say no improvement for me either. Using SLIx3 Titans, GeForce driver 344.48 & 3 Dell U2713HM. rFactor 2 profile is still unchanged from the one created 2011-09-22 despite now having 32 & 64 bit executables. Multiview+HDR is still 12-15 fps with this profile. Stuttering with multiview, multimonitor + multi gpu makes the sim unplayable with my configuration.
Improving too dark shadows didn't improve graphics in your case? I hope I won't offend you if I disagree with you, but my instalation of RF2 (Nvidia based) with a clean install (new player, new controller files generated -one of the best advice read in this forum -) has never felt so good to drive nor so good to look at. Have fun racing.
Sometimes.....nothing. My home PC auto updated with zero issue. My dedicated server, however.....that was a different story. Still no idea what was wrong with it but it definitely didn't like something about the new build lol
Worked for me as Noel described. just installed a mod I had in packages but not installed when I clicked get mod. very quick.
It depends how big vmod is and how may components it has. Only difference Build 860 vs 880 is that you don`t get this message: "ERROR , Check server URL"
Hi -- anyone using Fanaleds here - having problems getting it to work in 880. I copied over the plugin into the plugins folder in the x64 bin but nothing showing. Tried "G" too and plugin is not registering in-sim. Anything else I've missed? EDIT: Problem solved. User error
@Tim, I would like to report a crash report. What can i provide you with to give you guys insight in what happened. Last night i was in mp and changed from one server to another. While loading the mod from the server i wanted to join, the game stopped working. I had the same while changing sessions i.e. practise to quali.....also last night and of course build 880 I hope i got your question in the first post well and this is the proper way to report. Cheers Edwin

I didn't extensive testing of this and it works exactly as I described. Do a dedicated install with a clean packages folder and test very methodically before claiming it doesn't work. No need to create confusion.
At Mills I am getting painting of shadows and slowdowns at certain corners as if not optimized but have not had problems in the past but had been a few builds since running Mills so possibly not related to this build. I also deleted Cbash and shader files but still getting...
I respect your opinions, I hope you also respect my opinions. I am testing also methodically like you are doing and can not confirm you findings.
Well give some exact details so something can be dealt with. You say it has to do with larger rfcmps. I tested on a 300mb+ cmp and it didn't redownload it, it simply installed it and moved on. How large are you talking? Also keep in mind that the sim (not ModMgr) only looks for packages in <datapath>\Packages. If you have your ModMgr pointed to another custom packages folder that doesn't mean that is where the sim will also look. So keep all your testing in the default <datapath>\Packages folder.
I had a player file and controller file continuously updated since my first build (384 in my case), all other files were from a clean install. After skipping from 770 to 860 I didn't feel my experience was similar to what others were commenting, so I took the tedious step to start with those two fresh files for build 860 following a recomendation I had read on the forum. Your mileage may vary, in my case it was worthwhile. I must say that for the first time I am satisfied with the look of RF2 (before only the RFT 2013 mod looked good, I suspect it used it's own shaders), but Nvidia drivers changed too. Most spectacular was Marussia which looked very dated in cockpit, and awful in replays. With two tweakings to AI (AI errors = 0.2, and AI limiter = 0.25) I have now very interesting off line races with EGT mod on good tracks. Cheers.
There is no change. For Marussia cockpit to change, it would mean ISI had delivered update to car itself, which they didn't (last update to Marussia was March 2013). No change of shaders either, they come with car updates too, not with build updates.
You are certainly right, I surely had a problem with my previous instalation or it is a placebo effect (different Nvidia drivers too), meanwhile I am a happy camper. Cheers.
