I'm currently on a 24" 1080p computer monitor, but I now have an extra 32" TV but it's only 720p. Which would you use?
Try Figure out if you can accept 720p, the lower resolution... You'll maybe gain some immersion with the size to make the decision... If you can't live with the low resolution, then 1080p, if you can live with it, I would go for size erryday I am behind a 1080p 42" plasma - has been since 2008... The size of the cockpit makes it more immersive for me...
TV's in general, especially older ones have big input lag, making them less ideal for competitive sim racing. 720p will look awful especially with "GMotor jagged white line edges" unless you have a table that allows you to put monitor far away.
a fair bit will depend on how your going to connect it? but really you would want to run it at it's default resolution, otherwise it will look a tad blurred in any other res. I use a 32" TV @ 1360x768,it will do 1920x1080 but looks a tad blurred,1360x768 is spot on,using hdmi cable.
Yeah, I'm going to use an HDMI cable @ default res. So the lower resolution is not a problem for you? You just crank up the AA and such? May I also ask what FOV you use? Thanks.
The bigger the tv the more res you want ideally Even 1080 is to low for pc games on big tv's imho For Full Emerson you really want big monitor and high res, anything less looks blurry to me? Tried my big tv before and it didn't look sharp enough to me, but hey, each to their own lol
Right. I have no idea why to use some 720p res in this day and age. 24 inch monitors are generally fast with no input lag etc. If that screen isn't big enough for immersion, wait for rift or buy triple-screen setup.
1360x768 is totally fine for me and yeah I can crank things up a bit Everything is on max, except shadows and shadow blur. I use default fov. I did use a low ish fov in rF1,45 I think, recommended was supposed to be like 22 or something for my 32" tv. But I hated the 'squishing' of the track/scene. fast corners became slower, slow corners became hairpins it just wasn't 'real'. Sure the view out of the cockpit looked good but driving the track was god awful and totally unrealistic(from my point of view). example would be eau rouge....... (arguments may follow....) I also did some experiments with fov and it made a difference to lap times,at least for me. Did you use it's default resolution or use like 1920x1080?
You doesn´t have to crank up AA if you run in higher Res. Save the power you spend on AA for a higher resolution! That was true in 1997 (1024x768 was better than 800x600) and is true until we reached real 4k in real-time. 1920x1080 is the lower limit and a bad choice (at least with screens >27")!
TV had 1920x1080, but for the size it needed bigger if used as PC Monitor imho, smaller monitor looked more sharpe and clear
