thanks for all the nice comments guys. Happy New year. Thanks for the info Jka, thought I would give it a try on this blue line that goes down the pitlane. I changed it from 0 to 1. Sorry to say did not work, alwell.
Billstein grandstand has now a shadow caster. I've improved the accuracy of the shadows by removing the panorama and undershadow as shadow casters (thanx woochoo ) but the shadow flickering (shadow disappears) of some large, complex objects (like grandstands) in cockpit view (swing cam works perfect) was still there.
I haven't checked ingame, so this might be way off: Could it be the objects physically intersect? What happens when you move the blue lines up by 0.01m? Or use the decal option? The material offset is for z-fighting issues between alpha materials, for non-alpha material it should not be required.
I was just using this blue line as a test to see if Jka idea would work. Not too worried about this as i can fix just as you say by moving it higher. It's everything else . The gap in the screen shot (i've just looked) is 6mm's above the road. Decal already set to true.
I have tried the decal option, but there was no difference. DJC moved a lot of planes further apart and it works somehow, but it's not an optimal solution, because you need a lot of distance between the objects. Some modified TV cams have a front clip plane of up to 8.0 and there is no flickering at all.
+1 Let this be the end of Nords. No ISI DLC, no new modern versions. Rather this one we all know, consistently improving. Make this the "Nords Rocks 2" of rFactor2 ! ============================= SPAM My crazy thoughts ................... One day Jim Pearson lets you guys do his circuits DJ. I know he has a slower PC, he does not need more for GPL. Any benefactor out there can ship Jim a i7 /GTX9xx tower and gift subscription to rF2 please. Trust me, if I had the money I would have already done it. I reckon he had a few corners in the Historics he would be hooked. hehehe
Seriously guys, have you asked luc or tuttle about these problems? You should open a new thread about the problems you've encountered and get some help going in those specific threads. Love the work!
I just installed version 181 (which apparently automatically uninstalled 180) and I still see the curbs at the downhill after the overpass. Reading the thread, I thought those were removed. Did I miss something? Also, I used some saved real road files but they don't seem to work. At least I don't see a darkened race line at corners where they should be visible.
The title "suggests" but the link goes to 1.81. I guess I missed the link and post 763 of 900! Darn, I was hoping the Tourist layout had the reduced curbs.
The idea is to have finally all layouts. Most work is done. We have to change some gmt's (guardrails, tire barriers, cones), create a new AIW for the layout and we are good to go. The Tourist layout will get the reduced curbs as well. Version 1.99 is just a test we needed, because of the massive changes to the track. Here are some numbers. Nordschleife 24 hour Objects Referenced = 4179 Total Materials = 789 Total Points = 4782145 Total Faces = 3627381 Rendered Faces = 3628317 Extents are (-4203.807,-4169.131,-628.372) (3949.475,4480.022,865.146) LimeRockPark Objects Referenced = 398 Total Materials = 72 Total Points = 1684678 Total Faces = 1893097 Rendered Faces = 1893097 Extents are (-796.686,-829.593,-9.969) (867.375,834.467,123.035) Sometimes I wonder how it is possible at all to render this track at a decent framerate, but the ISI engine is pretty robust and DJC had done a great job with optimizing the performance.
Absolutely mind blowing numbers. Wow. What an amazing effort you guys have made, also in regards to performance. It's like a dream almost, being able to race a big field of cars with stable fps and everything looking as gorgeous as it does.
